Yeah, definitely. I'll announce it after Labor Day, but I'm not sure how to break it down just yet.

I think maybe Level 1 would be extracts/kits; Level 2 would be original extract recipes with hop boils and/or steeping grains; Level 3 would be PMs, and Level 4 would be AG.

But there's gonna be an RCE.

BTW, I still have to get some beer to you and Paul. I think the stout is a lost cause because of the gushers, but I still have to get you some Fedora Brauhaus original recipes. Sorry for the delay; it's been a bitchkitty of a summer.

Not a prob Dave, I understand the busy summer, getting whooped up on here with all the work I have to do before winter. Man, I have more work now than I ever did when I had a job... LOL

Yep, no rush. I plan on tasting Frozen collab stout in a few more weeks. Mine is still not anything to brag about so to make up for it, I'm going to do a stout in October sometime so I'll get my fix.
I have enough beer to get by until yours arrives so no worries here.

Oh heck yeah! I learned so much from last years. That is when I went from HME's to lme/dme steeps and hop boils. Maybe this time someone can walk me through an all grain (if I have the equipment to do it).

Mines nuttin to shout about either. I don't know where I missed the boat, but it needs work. It is ok for a stout, but I wanted the choc. and cherry to come through more than it did. That's why I'm waiting til mid/late fall to try one again, hopefully the flavors will come through better with long conditioning.

I have not tried yours yet Paul, I'm letting it condition along with mine for a fall treat.

Did u get a chance to try the IPA? I think I sent you one, but my memory is failing fast.

Yea, we all seemed to fail with the stout but that's ok.
Of course I enjoyed your IPA. I sent you an email on July 4 letting you know I drank it on the 3rd and thoroughly enjoyed it. But if your mind failed, maybe you forgot to send it to me and should send me another one. :slide:

Has anyone shipped brews cross-border? I would love to participate in something like this, but also would love sending / recieving beer in the mail....It's like Christmas for Grownups

Now you'd be eff'n with international laws.... I'd do some serious checking first. It's not exactly legal in the states from what I understand.

BigPapaG can meet you out on Lake Ontario or Erie or in a boat and you can exchange LOL. Or throw them at you across the river by Fort Niagara.

You don't have to send beers to participate in a recipe exchange. I've done two making some beers I've enjoyed, without exchanging. I'd love to mail/recieve brews from around the country, but with the nature of my job I can't risk getting caught breaking the law. Not sure this would go over like a minor traffic violation :lol:

Gizmo is correct; you don't have to actually exchange finished beers in this exercise. I called it the Recipe Collaboration Exchange because it sounded good, but the important thing is collaborating on a recipe with another Borg member and enjoying that experience and the resulting beer. You don't have to brew your batches at the same time. Really, there's no finish line. Sometimes guys will mail beers to each other, and FiT and Beer-lord and I put a twist on it this last time and we each added our own tweaks to a basic stout recipe. Mine was a vanilla milk stout, Frozen made a chocolate cherry stout, and B-L made a coffee stout, I believe. So it seemed like a good idea to compare them side-by-side-by-side. Problem is, mine came out gushers. Tastes good, though. But I don't want to ship this stuff, so I'm substituting some original Fedora Brauhaus recipes to my partners in crime, if I ever get around to it before I drink my pipeline dry.

Anyway, long story short, I encourage anyone and everyone to participate in the upcoming RCE. It's fun, creative, you get to know a fellow Borg member a little better, and you get good beer and maybe learn something. I've added a permanent recipe to my pipeline from a previous one; a darn good Irish Red.

I have done 2 RCEs so far and am looking forward to more. We didn't exchange beers in either. Instead, we emailed our observations, and at least from my side, we traded ideas from commercial beers when formulating the recipes, and then I compared my result to the favorites. We weren't trying to clone them, but I was pleased to find I liked the RCE result better. I will be repeating both of these recipes, and trying to make them even better.
