Heady Topper review.

Post by Banjo-guy »

Hi Beer Lord.
Did you try the Heady Topper over the weekend? I'm really interested to see what a hop lover such as you thought of it.

I'm going to save the Ghost In The Machine that you sent me so that I can share it with some members family along with Heady Topper,Hoptical Illusion and my own Black IPA.

We are not all hop heads so it will fun to see the reactions.

So how did you like the Topper. Does it live up to it's reputation?

I made a minor mention of it in another post discussing my brew day but yes, it was extremely good. I can't say it was my favorite but 'tasty' is the word that keeps coming to my mind. I tried it in the can and in a glass and noticed no real differences.
I can say that I was expecting more aroma than I got but I have to remember that is a major difference between east coast and west coast IPA's.
If that beer were local, it would always be in my fridge and be a regular beer (besides my homebrew, of course).

I think it lives up to its name and look for the day when they might brew enough of it to distribute to a greater portion of the country. I appreciate you sending it and hope you enjoy the Ghost as much as I do.
I'll get to the other beers soon as well.

I just got a 4 pack on Saturday 3/29 from a friend who was at the brewery on Tuesday 3/25 - So it was very fresh. I tried the first one on Sunday & it was fantastic. 3 to go. I'll share with the guys this Thursday as we brew in front of my home brew shop. The fresher the better with Heady Topper. I like it right out of the can too. Drinking it as slow as possible so it heats up as you go along. Yum! :woot:

Let me know if you want to trade one of those for some tasty Yazoo... I've been ISO Heady for a while, but haven't actively sought out a trade. I haven't been trading/shipping much lately, but am looking to get back in the game...
