This is a beer I've loved for years... probably my favorite Blackstone beer (and they make a lot of good ones). It used to be a brewpub/festival exclusive every spring, but for the last few years they've bottled it as their spring seasonal.

It's a really simple recipe... Here's how they describe it.

After talking with Dave about it a bit, here's what's in my brew log for future brewing...

1.00 oz Goldings, East Kent [5.00 %] (5 min) Hops 3.4 IBU
1 Pkgs English Ale (White Labs #WLP002) Yeast-Ale

The last of my mystery beer six-pack from last week's competition. This one seems like a very light, caramelly porter.

99% certain this is the last bottle of the IPA I did as a "teach a friend to brew" beer bottled in Nov '12. This was a partial mash combined with the Diablo IPA from the contest winnings and a bunch of hops. Never really cared that much for it (though the two guys I brewed with swear they loved it and want to brew "the exact same beer" on an upcoming brew day... I plan to talk them into something different, as I don't intend to buy a Mr. B extract for the brew day, but I will likely use some DME/LME to get it up to 5 or 6 gallons), but it is rock solid now. Of course, it's not a crazy hop bomb after being in the bottle for 1.5 years, but the PoR hops have settled in a lot and it's a nice, malty, caramelly, balanced brew that still has a nice bit of flavor hops lingering about. Wish I had sat on all of my bottles until now....

Had a Triton Brewery Railsplitter IPA while out to dinner with my better half, then had my latest homebrewed IPA. Also shared my Bourbon Barrel Porter with her, her favorite of my homebrews.

Thoroughly enjoyed another of my Beach Babe Blonde; seems the limeade addition is settling in and not being so smack me in the face forward but refreshing the pallette as it goes down the piehole

While brewing a Belgian Witbier, I am drinking a Grand Bohemian Czech Pilsner from last winter, fermented as a true lager. Still great after a year in the bottle.

"Gandhi-Bot" From New England Brewery - Fantastic. It's a must have for all you IPA fans. So glad it's on the shelves in our local stores now. Almost as good as a Heady T. Look it up. Find it & get it. :flag:

Coffee.

For long years.
And for this reason some old things are lovely
Warm still with the life of forgotten men who made them.

As my sig says I'm drinking my English Brown Ale. But due to a cranium malfunction it's flat (no carb.). When I bottled it I added the recommended amount of sugar - I used table sugar just for a change - directly to the bottling bucket as I was racking from the fermenter. I was careful not to stir too hard and introduce oxygen to the beer as it racked. But when I got to the last bottles I saw that there was all my sugar in a sodden, undissolved heap at the bottom of the bucket. I was thinking then of just adding sugar to the bottles but was afraid of bottle bombs.

Oh well. It tastes good still and I learned, yet again, another lesson.
