BrewToad

Yes BrewDemon and Mr. Beer kits are pretty darn easy but sometime you need a little help from the Borg to get you on the right track. Post your questions here!

BrewToad

Post by RandyG »

Does anyone here use BrewToad for recipes? I was looking at it Saturday, and on most recipes under the category of Fermentation it says something like
Primary: 7 days Secondary: N/A Conditioning: 10 days Grain to Glass: 17 days. Is this for real,or am I missing something? Most times I'm just getting ready to bottle in 17 days, and here they are having 1st Pour,or did I misunderstand something.Anyone have any answers or thoughts on the subject?

Wow, you weren't kidding were you? Maybe they are force carbonating. I don't see natural carb being anything but real green in 10 days, and bottling after only 7 days in fermentation I'd bet on some bottle bombs.

I am drinking ale today."

I use BrewToad (among other tools) and can tell you that I'm pretty sure that what you are seeing under 'Fermentation' are the defaults...

From my experience, nobody (including me) changes those...

Fear not, ALL of my recipes say that, but I can guarantee you that I stick to a 21 Day Primary Fermentation, 12-14 Days to Naturally Carb in Bottles (kegs differ, but usually about 5 days on the gas works well for me), and about 35 Days Grain to Glass minumum.

I too use BrewToad and these are a new addition to everybody's recipes. So we haven't really had a chance to change them even if we wanted to.
Things men have made with wakened hands, and put soft life into
Are awake through years with transferred touch and go on glowing
For long years.
And for this reason some old things are lovely
Warm still with the life of forgotten men who made them.
