The Best Of Both Worlds - WhiteLabs & MoreBeer

Post by Kealia »

Apparently, this is exclusive at MoreBeer right now:

Blended yeast strain.

Just thought somebody might be interested.

Oh great, with a fridge full of yeast I really can't all use, now you give me something else to look for.
Hope my LHBS can get it after a while if WL decides to make more of it. Surely Morebeer can't sell nearly enough yeast to make it worth their while not to offer this all over.

Either way, I have enough to last me a lifetime.

I brewed up a 10 gal batch a couple of weeks splitting between this and the SD super Yeast, and have to say based on the hydro sample that this new yeast is amazing. Beer fermented fast, and is crystal clear. It attenuated to 1.013 from 1.063 whereas the SD Super Yeast went down to 1.014. I'm going to keg this next week, and will post the final results comparing the two. At this point, it's hard to say which one I like better. I would like to do Zombie Dust using this best of both worlds yeast. To me it seems a little like a combination the 1968 ESB yeast and 1028 yeast, but attenuates a little more.

I'm glad to hear this. Guess I'll either have to wait until the fall when it's cooler as I don't trust those ice shipments. Maybe by then my LHBS will have worked out something with suppliers to get some.

On a similar note, I see the Gigayeast I paid $12.95 for (and loving it) is now down to $9.95. For double the cell count, that's not bad.

Morebeer gets the stuff within two days. Throw in 2 ice packs and you'll be fine.

You're right, they are only 2 days from me. Might have to order me some. I'll wait until next week as I don't want it to be sitting the weekend on a UPS truck.
Cheers!
