Started the day testing the Czech Pils... not bad. Kinda thin and watery, a bit of the PoR, but certainly drinkable.

Moved onto bigger beers later in the day... Lagunitas IPA, followed by a Blackstone Nut Brown

Happy Easter, all... This beer, and any from Brouwerij Het Anker for that matter (IMHO), is the bee's knees.
Gouden Carolus Easter Ale is brewed once a year to commemorate Easter. It is a golden ale that is rich, full bodied and full of flavor and life. This ale was brewed and intended to drink with Easter dinner. This special brew may be laid down, it will increase in complexity and balance as years pass.

Gouden Carolus Easter Ale is the most limited production brew from the Het Anker brewery. Only 2000 cases are brewed each year.

We brew this dark special beer every year for Easter. It contains several types of malt and during the brewing process two different kinds of herbs are added to give it that fine, special taste. Its ruby red colour, high alcohol concentration of 10% VOL and its full and well-balanced taste are a source of vitality and strength. A true delight, even for the most critical connoisseur. For ideal tasting, serve cool at a recommended temperature of 7-8° C and pour out gently in one movement. This pleasant, dark special beer is chosen by all who love a richer, slightly spicier tasting Ale.
This is a 2013 bottle... This may be the only specific-to-Easter beer I'm aware of, so I couldn't resist getting it down for today.

Clearing some old homebrew stock this evening. First gave a try to the Patriot Lager (truly a lager)... needs some body, but not bad. Next, the 2 year old GF pale... best it's been, but I'm glad I'm not using sorghum anymore (clarity ferm rules). Third is a 1.5 year old Winter Dark Ale (with a steep). Wow... This is crazy good now.
