Photograys a brewer's friend

I have to have my glasses to see my thermometer. I also run in and out of my brewery when cleaning equipment. So I have always switched from my glasses to my shades often during brew day. The result is often leaving my glasses in the brewery. I just got new specs and this time I paid the difference for the photogray lenses. I love em. I still have to switch to shades for driving but these are really handy for everything else.

I'm starting to wear glasses more and more now. At work, all day long since I'm using a computer and equipment all day. I also paid the extra money and got no line bifocals with polarizing lens. Not dark enough to use as sunglasses but great for glare.
I don't know many people over 40 or 45 now that don't need some type glasses. Damn, it's tough getting old.

I've been wearing bifocals for years now. I've thought about getting photogray lenses, since it would help while I'm driving around at work. But I'm cheap. Since SWMBO's insurance covers free eyeglasses annually, and the photograys would be an extra fee, I just take the freebie and leave it at that.

I do keep old glasses around, though, just to have a spare pair for emergencies.

Before I had Cataract Surgery, I wore glasses all of my life. What I found, about having Photograys, is that the more that you wear them in the sun, the darker that they change to. When they are new they don't get dark enough but they will eventually get very dark, as they become contitioned. Just like brewing it takes patience.

When you first get them throw them in the freezer over night. Once they are frozen they will get maximum darkness the next time they are in the sun.

Dave they dont darken up much when driving. Your car windows cut the UV which is what they respond to. Thats why I still have to wear sunglasses when I am driving.

get mine free from VA. so I figure since I ain't got to pay for the exam, or the glasses, I can afford the transition lenses. I don't buy the no line bifocals though. what I need to do is get a pair of "computer" glasses as it's hard to read the screen.
