I'm still planning on being there and hope to get there early enough not to be turned away but words getting out and it should be crowded.

Last chance to place your bets of what weird beer they will have made tonite. I just called the brewery and was told to get there at 6 for free crawfish and beer and the tasting starts right at 7. It's supposed to be very crowded.
Hope I can get to get a pic of the twins (bookends) with James and Martin. But first I have to remember which one is James and which one is Martin!

Sounds like a night you'll remember ( if you don't over-imbibe ). Can't wait for updates.

Brewbird, I'm the designated driver and have to work tomorrow so I will have fun and behave.
Tater, yeah, I know which is which but, you know how you get when you have to bow to Scottish Royalty.

Had a ball tonite. The boys were extremely friend and Redbeerd and I had a good 25 minute chat with James. They are funny and the crowd was the biggest yet for any show.
It is their 7th out of 10 and they don't know yet when it will be on. We weren't interviewed but they may have caught us sniffing our beer.
They call it Zombie Nana Gator----very long story so you will have to wait.
But......it wasn't too good. It was made in the Peterman style with Rose of Jericho, Mayhaw and filtered bayou water and brewed in the swamps on 2 air boats! Crazy stuff. But, it was only 4.4% ABV, tasted blah, wasn't too sour or blended. They had 15 gallons and even refilmed as recent as yesterday. But, it was a very enjoyable night and I'm very glad I was a small part of things.
Here's our 'bookends' photo. We took some video and will see if it's any good and if so, put it up on Vimeo/Youtube to share later.

So. F'ing. Cool.
Re: Brew Dogs are coming to NOLA
Ron, I know you'd love this....I had a Girl Scout Cookie Stout....peppermint with lactose. Actually it wasn't all the great. A bit too much peppermint but it was a dark beer and you would have hated it.
Had a relatively good Rebirth Day. Think semi hoppy ale with a touch of pineapple dry hopped with Citra. The best beer of the night. Sadly, NOLA is just a tad bit above average for me.
Hey, we asked James what his favorite beer style and he loves IPA's....the hoppier the better. A big Enjoy By fan too.

If you're lucky, you won't win one of those beers. I'm glad it's a 'one time only' brew.
Who identifies New Orleans or even the south with Rose of Jericho and Mayhaw? Anyone.....Bueller, Bueller?

Re: Brew Dogs are coming to NOLA
It really was a very nice evening and I'm glad paul kept bugging me to go. Every one of these types of events I meet so many nice people who enjoy doing what we all do here. And I learn something EVERY TIME.
It was so cool to be able to talk to James one on one and see that he's just like all of us who love brewing.....passionate. And like paul, I wasn't crazy about the beer but it was a quality product, and I know the show is a reality show etc but it was done well. I wouldn't buy it or drink it in quantity but I loved hearing what they did to brew it. And the show should be more fun to watch now that I was there to see what they did to brew it.
Paul and I almost got to be interviewed about our opinions but they found some nice ladies who seemed to interest the producer more but I'm used to that.

Re: Brew Dogs are coming to NOLA
Thanks for the report. You guys are famous now (in your own minds & ours) hob-nobbing with TV folk. Was the beer a disappointment to you or did you know what to expect from it other than the quality, as you put it?

Excellent for you guys. Sounds like a good time was had...I enjoy the show and my youngest always comes to get me when he finds an episode on. Are you on the left or the right? Glad that they were approachable and you were able to talk brew with them.
Re: Brew Dogs are coming to NOLA
We had a couple of pours. The first round came out and we were told not to smell or taste it until they spoke some more about it and told us when to drink it. Of course we had to do the "Hello, How are ya" a few times. By the time everyone had a glass in hand and we took a sip, the beer was semi flat and a bit warm and just not that good. It tasted earthy and had very little aroma and I honestly can say it tasted like crappy water was used.
The next round, mostly when the filming was over, was a little cooler, much better carbed, had a slight apple smell (from the Mayhaw) and definitely tasted better. Still, not a great beer but more along the lines of what they discussed in so far as how it was brewed, the ingredients and yeast. That second and third glass pretty much matched what they said they did and tried to do.
I tried to be very objective since I'm a hop guy and can appreciate other styles but the opinions of the serious craft beer lovers was pretty much the same. However, on TV you'll see we've gone wild as we all just loved it.
As for being popular, I'm not sure how much of an audience that network even gets and we were told that of the 6 shows last year and the 6 already done this year, we were the largest and most friendly, honest group yet.
They were off to Scotland on a 7am flight but have to come back to do the last 3 episodes.
