I see....I thought that extract was added in with the grain, my bad. So is .0625 oz equivalent to about 6 pellets of hops???

I guess it is that simple. I'm only doing a 3G batch so I've already halved the hop additions. I just didn't expect that much variance in the AAUs. Ill play with it until I get it down to 11.9 or so. I want to brew this exactly as intended to set a baseline. And since it's for SWMBO the bitterness needs to be low.

It just means that some additions could be as low as 0.0625/oz.
I know this makes Paul head explode
Could it be that you input AAUs off your package and he just used the default in the BS inventory?

Maybe you should put the hops in grams so Paul won't notice. :)

Clearly this guy has some low alpha acid hops. I just recreated the full 6 gallon recipe in BeerSmith and it's still at 18.2 IBUs for a full batch. I'll adjust accordingly, but yeah - I think it's literally going to be a couple of pellets per addition.

Each addition = 2.26796 grams

Halving hop additions is akin to a criminal offense at Twin Brothers Brewing (or Two Brothers Brewing, or Twins Brewing, whatever). We not only frown upon it, we piss upon it!

Meh, get over to NOLA and leave the rest us alone.
We have kilts to wear, cats to pluck and lace to try on.

Actually WE don't.....those all refer to Jeff!

This is the sickest beer ever if it lives up to this thread. There's everything in this thread but football.
Jeff's cat is already plucked so he's ahead of me. I only wear lace on the triad and I won't ever leave anyone alone.

I hope I like it so I can brew it again. Only using .0625/oz of hops per addition means a lot left over even from a 1oz bag!

The pathetic hop additions are lined up along with the lime zest.

I like to feel pretty sometimes - it helps me write

The third bowl is the whirfloc and servomyces and the fourth actually does have hops in it. There's just very little!

D'oh!

I made this as a 3G batch and put it in my 5G bucket so it has plenty of headspace. According to the original thread the yeast go nuts when the LimeAde gets added. I can say that the whole house smells of citrus right now which is quite nice.

I pitched at 64 and will let this get up to about 70 on the high side. Go yeast go!

This is chugging along right around 66 as near as I can tell. It's in a closet that is ambient temp of 68 and because I used a 5G bucket for this and only filled with 3G the beer level is just below the temp strip so it's my best guess.
I opened it today and there is a nice thick krausen so I added 30oz of the LimeAde as directed.

I'll check gravity next Friday (5/9) to see how it's progressing. The thread talks about fermenting for 3 full weeks but I haven't done that in a quite a while. Given the additional sugar in this from the LimeAde though I think it might be wise to do just that.
