Greetings, Borg!!!

I'm back in the fold after a brief sabbatical due to personal issues that had to be taken care of. Among those, one of our cars was stolen one night in downtown while we were at dinner. Such a nice surprise. Recovered the car (good) ... Car engine seized up three weeks later (bad). So without any warning we had to find another car to purchase ... A nice expense everyone plans for I'm sure.

My "real job" was bought out (yet again) and the new owners decided that a wage review was needed and the long and short of it came to me that I am now making nearly $8,000 annually though working in the same capacity. Always nice. And to top it all off, they are not matching our 401K at all. I know they do not HAVE to, though after 10 years of having a match, it stinks.

My grandmother was sent to live in a hospice home due to her dementia in South Carolina so that was a move in itself to get her there helping my dad and uncle make sure everything was taken care of. Lots of flights going back and fourth to South Carolina over the last couple of weeks has really been tiring.

Now I digress.

The brewery is still moving forward though with a new location and twist. The Florida laws, regulations and licensing constraints have really proven too much to bother dealing with. So, the brewery is moving to North Carolina. Near Franklin, NC to be exact. My parents moved there a few years back and their laws are MUCH "easier" to break into the brewing business. Not to mention you can self distribute in NC as well. Huge plus there for a small brewer.

The plan (as it sits now) is to move the entire rig to my parents property where my step dad has already constructed some space inside his barn to proper specs to house a production brewery of our size and needs. I'll be spending two weekends per month brewing there and still living in Florida. He/they will be responsible for filling the kegs/bottles and helping get the product to customers once we are up and ready to get moving.

Again, this is a process and will take some time. Though with the recent "real job" issues, it has become a more pressing matter for myself and to my parents who desperately want me out of my current position and to get the brewery going.

We even already have several restaurant owners who tasted the beers that wanted them on the spot. So we will have customers from day one which is always nice.

Anyway ... Just a quick recap of what had happened to me (if anyone wondered) and the plans for the brewery. The dream has not died it's actually been getting closer and closer to realization.

They really are and have been for years.

So many breweries up there though still room for more in other areas of the state out West. Where we will be setting up shop.

Good to hear from you Eddie but sorry to hear of all your set-backs, I think I would not only relocate the brewery start-up, but would move out of that area yourself. I still leave the keys in my stuff all night and I live in NY no less, but a rural area.

Thanks, guys ... Yeah, it is time for change anyway to be honest with you. I love living on the beach here in Pensacola but my "real job" is pulling us around too much and not playing fare in my eyes with wages, 401K, etc. But that's another story.

North Carolina is just much easier to get things going and I would have from family there as well. I have no family, other than my wife here in Pensacola. It's always easier (at times) when you have support locally instead of driving/flying all over the place to get it.

Chin up though and pushing forward. Now to start from square 1 with the North Carolina TTB licensing, paperwork, etc., etc.
