More on Marris Otter
I saw on facebook that Downtown Craft Brew has just gotten 850lbs of bulk grain. So on a long shot I commented "do you have any Marris Otter?" They replied "yes" then replied "$65". I wanted to make sure I was understanding correctly and asked if they had 50lb sacks of Marris Otter for $65. I didn't get a reply so I thought "heck they aren't very far out of my way home from work". So I stopped in after work today. Sure enough they had sacks of Marris Otter for $65. Well then, I thought maybe I would be pushing it but I just had to ask, I asked if Hall of Foamers get a discount. The guy says "Yep". Long story short, I walked out with a sack of Marris Otter for $63 and change after sales tax. I thinking "Wow! I just got this stuff for $1.26 a pound. Since my hip replacement I struggle to lift things off the ground. The guy working there even carried the bag out to my car for me.
But WAIT! There's more!
I get the thing dragged into my house and read the stats. This isn't a 50lb sack. This is a 25KG sack. In other words 55lbs That works out to $1.15 a pound. NICE!

Wow. Super score, Roger!
And Maris Otter has a lot of nice characteristics. You're gonna have some superb beers coming down the pipeline.

Awesome score! Maybe I should start using facebook more often.

Re: More on Marris Otter
I lift a Blackstone Marris Otter Ale in your honor. Great deal...
Since you have so much on hand, you should try the Blackstone recipe... almost a SMaSH (DMaDH?), and oh, so good. Dave (their founding brewer) gave me this recipe...
Amount Item Type % or IBU
9.33 lb Maris Otter (Crisp) (4.0 SRM) Grain 92.56 %
0.75 lb Caramel/Crystal Malt - 60L (60.0 SRM) Grain 7.44 %
1.50 oz Williamette [5.50 %] (60 min) Hops 28.5 IBU
1.00 oz Goldings, East Kent [5.00 %] (5 min) Hops 3.4 IBU
1 Pkgs English Ale (White Labs #WLP002) Yeast-Ale
Beer Profile
Est Original Gravity: 1.057 SG
Est Final Gravity: 1.018 SG
Estimated Alcohol by Vol: 5.03 %
Bitterness: 31.9 IBU
