this a.m. I'm brewing up a Bengal in the Rye.

I will drain that glass again.
Such hilarious visions clamber

Gotta agree with Beer-Lord here, if you keep posting that you are brewing that one over and over my ears perk up and I may have to ask if I can add it to our line up soon.Beer-lord wrote:Ymmmmmm, rye!

Hey! Maybe we should start an offshoot group of Disciples of Hops Beer-Lord called Disciples of Rye.

Took everything needed to brew my RIS to my LHBS. A total of 4 of us brewed in the parking lot for National Home Brew Day. There was food and beer and fun.
Getting ready to pitch my 3 liter starter into my 1.105 wort and make beer.

Re: What are you brewing/bottling?
I'm going to be bottling up my Passage To India IPA today.
Normally - now - I'd be brewing up the next batch at the same time. But I still like to leave my beers in the fermenter for three weeks. It usually fits nicely into my schedule. But three weeks from now will be Memorial Week-end and we're always gone for the weekend. This coming week-end is the walleye opener here in MN so I'll be gone then too. So I won't be brewing for two weeks.

Brewing a Wee Heavy today. Using Bewitched Amber Ale as base and adding 1 lb of Amber DME. S-04 yeast and East Kent Golding yeast. Did this about a year ago and it was a hit. Also a quick brewday.

Re: What are you brewing/bottling?
Weather sucked yesterday for HomeBrew Day, stopped by LHBS had a good turnout despite rainy and cold! So I brewed today, try to use up some DME, call it North Port Pils
5.5 Gallon
3 lbs Pilsen Light DME
6.5 lbs German Pilsner Malt
.75 lbs Vienna Malt
.5 lbs Carapils
.5 oz Columbus @ 60
1 oz Cascade @ 30
.5 oz Columbus @ 20
.5 oz Liberty @ 15
Washed S-05
Top off with 1/2 gallon water for OG 1.063 on the screws!
Getting more comfortable with grain!

In getting ready to bottle 4th generation Johnny Silk's ESB, I racked my 5 gallon carboy batch to two LBK's and gonna bottle it on Tuesday with kiddo's at school and SWMBO at work...my peaceful ritual for the week.

Re: What are you brewing/bottling?
Bottled what looks like may be a good Blue Moon clone for SWMBO yesterday. If I can get my failed dryer out for garbage day today plan on using up some of my Mr. Beer ingredients - either the API IPA recipe or the seasonal Saison. Before bottling dropped off a RyePA for the guy at the party store since he has been bugging me to taste my beers, and he started and impromptu bourbon tasting session. Had to back off before I got to the point of not remembering how to use my bench capper. He WILL be getting more samples, just not on bottling or brewing day.

Re: What are you brewing/bottling?
Johnny Silk's ESB 4th gen...Normally bottle in .5L PET bottles but since this was almost 4.5 gallon batch, did half in 12 oz glass bottles since I purchased 2k or 3k caps last month. It does take time prepping, and priming but I thoroughly enjoyed my time by myself. It's either bottling or ?!?!?!? eh.
Now I have 2 M T lbk's that are thirsty or hungry.

Re: What are you brewing/bottling?
Bottled the "India Pale Kolsch" I made - IPL like beer, 100% pilsner with Kolsch yeast, a little Hersbrucker and a lot of Amarillo.
Tasted juicy but with hints of earthiness and spice behind it. Intriguing. I think I'll like it.
