Therma-K plus

Post by losman26 »

Does anyone else on the borg use one of these? I have done three batches with the heavy duty wire probe, and use the wire probe with a thermo-well in my carboy. This is probably the most accurate where I have measured temps (mashing, fermentation, pitching) and have noticed a difference in my beers. I highly recommend spending the extra bucks on this, not only because of the accuracy, but because you can attach whatever probe you need for the moment (brewing, BBQ, etc). Hands down, this is one of the best investments I've made.

"Filled with mingled cream and amber
I will drain that glass again.
Such hilarious visions clamber
Through the chambers of my brain
-- Quaintest thoughts -- Queerest fancies
Come to life and fade away;
Who cares how time advances?
I am drinking ale today."

I use the Thermapen (mega expensive) and love the heck out of it. I've used it the last 3 brews and really understand now how important the temps are when mashing certain styles. I truly believe any of their products to be the best of the best and you can't go wrong. I hate to say this as it's overstated but this is another investment that pays off if you brew lots.

Yep, get this and the heavy-duty wire probe. Mine is 10 ft long. I just leave it in the mash the whole time, keeping the handheld device far away from the pot.

Yeah, in feeling it. I don't plan any major hardware upgrades for awhile. College tuition and rooming expenses have tapped me out.
In fact, I'm thinking of asking for donations. :jumpy:
