We recently had a new shopping center open nearby, where a mall previously died an ignominious death. They opened a Fairway Market there, and I've investigated their beer selection. Some good beers; some Lagunitas, some Flying Dog, some Troeg's, some Victory, and some others that I wouldn't be able to find at the local Shop Rite. So I approve.
I'd never really looked at anything else in the store, because SWMBO does the weekly grocery shopping, and if I need to run out for anything, I'm likely to go to Shop Rite myself, because it's closer, and it's familiar.
But a Facebook friend recommended their butcher shop, and since I needed to get a couple racks of baby back ribs for this weekend, I decided to try them out.
Well, the first opportunity I had was fairly late Saturday afternoon, since I had to work. So the selection in the pre-packaged section was disappointing; only three packets, and they weren't very meaty or well-marbled. Anyway, I went to the butcher's counter, and said I wanted to racks of ribs, but I wasn't happy with what they had out there. So the guy got me two fresh racks of ribs, really meaty, and marbled wonderfully, wrapped up and packaged for me.
I'll be going back there in the future when it's barbecued ribs time.

RibFest has been scaled way down in recent years. It was just getting too intense, so we kind of keep it to a large rib barbecue for the local extended family. Still a lot of ribs go down, but not the 14 or 16 racks I'd done in the past.Gymrat wrote:I wanna go to your Rib Fest
Of course, if you were in the vicinity when this shindig was happening, I'd be more than happy to include you. Good food, good homebrew, good tunes, and good people.

2.5 hours in, and the ribs look superb! Gonna foil 'em in about 30 minutes. I wish I was better at posting photos and stuff, because these are looking great!
Temperature never got above 220, and I've been getting excellent smoke so far. Good stuff.
