Thank you to all that have served, and especially to those that gave their lives for our freedom!

In Charleston S.C. for my oldest daughters wedding on Sunday! Drinking some local brew and handing out some of my
homebrew as bridesmaid and groomsman gifts so the pipeline is almost depleted! :p

Enjoy your holiday and safe travels BORG! :borg:

Every year for the past 20 something years the family meets at my aunts house across our Lake Pontchartrain (about a 40 minute drive) for a huge family gathering. It's for many things and not just Memorial Day. We celebrate and remember all our relatives who've gone and get to see some family from out of town just this once a year.
My aunt.....check that, my favorite aunt is an awesome cook and spends way too much time and money making most of the food though some folks brings stuff as well. Then before we go, we all hide $20 bills all over the house to pay them back which pisses my aunt and uncle but it's also fun.
It's scaled down a bit the last few years but here's just some of the stuff we'll be having. Oh and since the twins have a birthday on the 27th, she makes us a HUGE ASS cake! :)

Crayfish, potatoes and corn
Ribs
Roast Beef
Pulled pork
Seafood Gumbo
Crawfish pies
Stuffed peppers
Meatballs and spaghetti
Stuffed mushrooms
Eggplant Parmesan
Smothered cabbage
Artichoke casserole
Stuffed potato wedges
Mac-n-cheese
Enchiladas
Red beans and rice
Stuffed artichoke leaves
Aunt Joyce salad (I hope she makes it)
Your Mom's famous crawfish dip

Desserts:
Chocolate pie
Apple pie
Brownies
Eclairs
Cream puffs
Cakes (not sure what kind yet)
And sometimes there's last minute eggrolls or tacos or jambalaya or who knows what. Plus things people bring like fried chicken and other casseroles.
It's not a N'Awlins food thing, just good ole home cookin.

Then the fools expect me to play volleyball with all that in my belly!

Paul, that menu looks stupendous! One of these days, I'm gonna make my way down to the Delta, and partake of the culinary wizardry there. I understand that there's nothing like genuine Louisiana Cajun-style cooking, and I don't think my life would be complete if I didn't get a taste of it first-hand.

Happy Memorial Day to all. Enjoy the weekend...

My son, who has been deployed overseas, made his way back to the U.S. on Friday and was suppose to get Priority booking on United so he, and his unit could be home. United overbooked, had them on standby, and bumped them. I think I'll stop here, before I say something I may regret...

Frustrating Mt. I am glad that he is home safe.
We were at the season opening breakfast of our yacht club today. They played taps (live) for the departed. Coincidentally, a sailboat passed by and went out of sight just as it finished.
Tomorrow we join two Veteran's Ceremonies.
Oh, yeah, I grilled too!
Making beer and stew for the Zombie Apocalypse.
Never mind, there it is.
