First Ale You Drank?
I'm trying to remember. Everything was adjunct lagers when I was young, and I didn't like beer much. I was over 20 when I found one that I liked, MGD. Now I drink ale almost exclusively, and I prefer them over the few craft lagers I drink. I think it must have been Bass. I know that by the 90s I was boycotting Bass, and I can't think of any other ales I drank then. Do you remember your first? (Or, if you have too much fun, your last?)

I have no idea, back in the 70s I did not know the difference between ale and lager. what I can say is that pbr was on the table quite a bite when I started to get tall enough to reach up there.

Re: First Ale You Drank?
Way back in the early 70s. When it was still brewed in Cincinnati.
"Filled with mingled cream and amber
I will drain that glass again.
Such hilarious visions clamber
Through the chambers of my brain
-- Quaintest thoughts -- Queerest fancies
Come to life and fade away;
Who cares how time advances?
I am drinking ale today."

I can't pin down a specific memory of my first ale, but I'm thinking it would have been some Guiness or a German export ale back in 1977.

That's what I was gonna say, I grew up in Columbus and it would have to be that or Genesee cream ale around that time.

Genesee Cream Ale at college in NY State. Sold in old milkshake cups at a bar. A couple of those and you cleaned your system out good!

I didn't know the difference between ales and lagers at the time and I can't tell you the name of the first ale I had. All I can tell you is that I was one or two days into a twenty-two month stint in Scotland when I ordered a "bitter" at one of the local pubs and instantly fell in love all over again with beer.

All interesting responses. In fact I may have tried Molson or Guinness first. As above, I didn't know the difference then. But I also know almost everything was lager.

I'm going to say that it was Bass or Guinness with my international Disney roomies. That may be incorrect, but to the best of my knowledge, this is a strong likelihood.
