Glad to hear you've got it done. I'm still not sure why the OG is off but you're not too bad off. I can't say I'll do any better with BIAB but I'm hoping too.

So Jeff, you've downed a bomber of 8.4% Maha and now you're going to hit Pliny? I think I'd be letting the dogs walk me.

Jeff...Hope it tastes good!!!

I know that I'm not that far off...but I've got my efficiency set at 65% in BS and I'm still low. I've read where guys are getting 80% with a batch sparge. I want to be able to use less grain and save a little money.

Cheers to your Pliny Chris. Mine came in at 8.6% and is a real smooth drinker.
Sometimes I hate when I check my notes, I get more confused. For my Pliny it called for 14lbs of 2 row, notes say I used 12. More than likely I used 14, but forgot to mark down 2lbs.
I have BeerSmith set to 70% and always add 1lb of carapils to all my beers that are not listed in the recipe to make up for lost BIAB efficiency. For the extra $1.30 in grain it's not that big of a deal to me.

Hmm..Smoked hops? I wonder how that would turn out?

Chris, what's your plan for using a secondary and dry hopping? Maybe Jeff can say what he did as well.
With dry hops at 12 and 5 days, I was thinking of primary for 10 days then moving to a secondary and do the first dry hop addition commando and then do the last 5 day dry hop in bags to contain as much as possible.
I'm definitely going to use gelatin in this one and give that a try in the keg.

I wasn't planning on going to a secondary. My recipe kit did not have the 5 and 12 day additions. It only had a 7 day addition of 5 total ounces of hops. And I was going to go commando with a 4 or 5 day cold crash to make sure they all fell to the bottom. Then I'll rack off real carefully before bottling.

From advise from others I secondaryed(is this a word) mine. There were a lot of hops in the bottom of the bucket.
Planning on bottling my spoken for beers this week and shipping them out. Till then here's a teaser.

So Jeff, did you commando the hops or bag them or both?
In the boil, I'll split the hops about 50/50 bagging and commando. I'll do the same dry hopping (I think).

Bagged the boil hops and commandoed the dry hops in the secondary.

Film at 11?
I went to change ice bottles (keeping that at 66 so far) this morning and the smell is such a great way to wake up to.

Looking back at your recipe, it appears to have the same amount of hops at 5 gallons that mine does at 6. Did you brew more than 5 gallons?
I've decided to definitely use a secondary like I did for Maharaja and just hope going commando at 12 and 5 days is enough time for it to clear. Can't really cold crash this but I can get it down to 58 for a day (I think).

I put 5.25 gallons into the fermenter with a target of 5 gallons into bottles, but I'm sure it will be less because of all the hops going in tonight!!!

It will be interesting to see. With the trub and hops combined I'm guessing you get around 4.75 in the end. OOh, is there a prize for guessing the exact number of bottles that you end up with? I'm going with 46!
