Once again, work gets in the way of beer
I have to work every other Saturday. My rotation is the second and fourth Saturdays of the month. Everyone works if there's a fifth Saturday. So it's fair, but it still sucks.
This weekend, I'm getting hit with the End-of-Month Crazies. More sales being made, so people can get their commissions up, and it's our busy pest season, what with the weather and all. So I have a real busy day tomorrow. I might not get home until around 3:00, which is late for a Saturday, and really late for the end of a six-day workweek. The saving grace is, since I don't work the first Saturday, I get a 3-day weekend for Independence Day. Gotta get me some ribs to slow-smoke that weekend.
So I'm not going to brew on Sunday, partly because of this, but partly because I've got a saison waiting in the wings, and it's actually a little too cool in the basement at the moment. But also, I'm going to play golf on Sunday morning with my son, my brother, and my brother's friend, and then I'm going to grill some tasty burgers for us and serve up the homebrew (but not for The Bhoyo because he's only 20).
So I'm thinking of slowing down production for the summer anyway. Maybe brewing two weeks out of three, and not doing any fivers or AGs. I can concentrate on saisons and maybe even lagers this way, and still keep the pipeline relatively full.

Fear not Dave, I'm not able to brew this week either. But next week, well, with a 3 day weekend....DUH! This will be 5 weeks without brewing, the longest span in 2 1/2 years. It's an addiction so I'm dealing with it.
How bout you?

Re: Once again, work gets in the way of beer
I figure if I scale back to smaller batches every two weeks, I'll be okay. I have to calculate vacation into it, too. And I'm fortunate that I have some very good extract recipes that don't require a long brew day.
I'll just bite the bullet and get by okay.

Wow Dave, sounds like you have a work problem. Fortunately, we have a 12 step program to help you focus on the important things, like beer.

You know...I never understood why I was allowed to die for my country in the Marine Corps but I couldn't legally have a beer. Always pissed me off.

Why wasn't this post made a sticky????
I guess the best I can do is give it a little bumpy BD.
