Second beer of the night, and again split the bomber with a friend that came over.
Typical IIPA color when poured, that wonderful deep orange that seems to define the style. The aroma was was piney and almost resiny (if that can be a smell).
The mouthfeel was both heavy upfront, but smooth and almost light on the finish....interesting. Very flavorful and very well balanced without being overly hopped and bitter IMO. It has the same aroma as Pliny and I'm honestly not sure which hop that it that stands out but I've had a lot to drink tonight....*hic*.
In short, this is a good IIPA that drinks as very well balanced that I would love to pair with some great pub food like a burger, some fish 'n' chips or anything else that is fried.
Thanks for sending my way Paul, we both enjoyed this beer the most out of the beers we drank tonight.

Re: Ghost in the Machine
It's Friday...so it's time for a bomber. And Ghost in the Machine is tonights choice.
Ron's description is perfect. The aroma is like opening up a bag of hops and taking a big whiff. The flavor, well, it's exactly the same as the aroma, which is to say it tastes just like it smells, which is awesome. Ron is right in that the aroma is the same as Pliny, exactly the same. We've got to find out what hop or combination of hops gives off this wonderful scent.
But I think this one is better than Pliny. It's smoother, more balanced. Pliny hits you in the back of the tongue harder than The Ghost does. The amazing amount of aroma and flavor in this is so well balanced with the bitterness and mouthfeel.
This may well be the best beer that I have ever had. Just Awesome.
Paul...thank you so much for sending this one. Now I know why they bottle these great beers in bombers, because 12 ounces just isn't enough to enjoy in one shot.

Re: Ghost in the Machine
I enjoyed mine with my chicken friend Graham and his friend Jason a few weeks ago. (sorry for the late posting, I'm bad )
Like the others have said the aroma will kick you in the head. It poured hazy, I would assume from all the hoppy goodness put in it. But that's where it got funny, it did not have the punch you in the head hop bitterness I expected, the aroma belies a well balanced beer. Except for the aroma, I would almost call this a IPA- or a Pale Ale+. Trust me it was very much enjoyed by all of us (even the Zombie among us). Thank you Paul, for sharing your Homegrown wares. Now the Zombie side note. For those who follow The Walking Dead, I found out Grahams friend Jason is a zombie actor. The has been in many episodes, with his biggest in "The Grove".
He is the one of the burned zombies. The one that is slightly charred on the side of his face, gets shot in the shoulder and then the head. I had just watch that episode the week before, so that was kinda cool.

Re: Ghost in the Machine
I've realized in the back of the fridge i have 3 of these still there! Gonna hit one tonite (after the gym of course because that's what no life losers do on a Friday after a work week) and see if it's changed very much. If I can't find any Apologetic IPA's in for this weekend, I'll knock a second one off this weekend too. Got way too many beers in the fridge.

3 of these in the back of the fridge? Just how big is this fridge??
Re: Ghost in the Machine
Don't ask......the guy is a retail store hiding as someone's home. There's stuff in there you can't even reach because there's so much in front of it....and that is if you don't want to first try the 3 taps he's got sitting there awaiting you.Kealia wrote:3 of these in the back of the fridge? Get out!
This is still very good. Not as dank as it was, some sharpness up front and still a decent nose. Not bad for old beer with 2 more left.
