It was a Hefeweizen... Smelled enough like bananas to attract them...
Or maybe it was because I also left the blowoff on for the whole fermentation (yeah, I forgot to change it to a real airlock) so the blowoff liquid became an acetobacter factory... They apparently like that as well.

You can keep those little bastards! I was at war with them last year. This year so far I've only seen random ones, vs. having them breeding in my house.

I had a batch that got fruit flies, ruined it. And my first outdoor batch was swarmed at sunset by mosquitoes. In the service we called powdered mix drinks "bug juice". Maybe there's a batch someday with that title.
