I guess this is another beer that will take ages to show up in my area.

Stone's slowly been making more limited beers. Maybe they will finally have some value on the trading forum. Southern Charred was so bad though I'm wary to spend 20 dollars on another one of their bottles. I almost traded for their two BA releases that were out recently, I think Fyodor's Classic and Mikhail's Odd is what they were called, but I ended up not pulling the trigger since I remembered getting burned.
Not to mention how horrible Crime and Punishment tasted...blech
I love stone's staple releases though. IRS, Enjoy By, even Goto is solid.

I'm on their 'Insider' email alert and get stuff like this all the time. I can't find anything about it either. Guess I'll have to wait until tomorrow to see what's up their sleeve.

We want to contribute to craft brewing’s current renaissance in Europe by building a production brewery right smack in the heart of the city, complete with a bistro and beer garden. That’s where you come in; we’ll give you the specifics on your role in a bit.
I guess since Sierra Nevada did it, they will too.

I'm a Stone fan-boy so I gave $45 and will get a T-shirt and an awesome glass. This isn't something I would normally fall for but I like the passion shown by Stone even though they are millionaires.
Plus I got to meet Greg Koch and he was very friendly and personal so I can rationalize the $45.

I wonder if some of the web talk that So Cal breweries are moving East is because of the ongoing water crisis. I think many have their own wells but it is an interesting conspiracy theory.

I think it's because they can increase sales volume & there's lower taxes than CA. It's a win-win for the west coast brewers. For us, it will mean more good beer at lower prices - I hope.

It may be a case of the tables turning.
During the 19th Century, there was a huge influx of immigrants to the US, including the individuals Busch, Miller, Coors, Schlitz, et al. They set up their breweries in their adopted cities, marketed their beer, did well for themselves, grew the American economy... Well, you know the story.
The point is, they brought their German brewing traditions to America, and adapted those traditions to the existing conditions and raw materials they found in the New World. One-hundred-some-odd years later, there's a brewing revolution in the US, and now this new generation of brewers can take their knowledge, traditions, techniques, raw materials, etc., back to Europe. American grains, hops, yeast, and water conditions have allowed American styles to flower and become legitimate styles on their own. Fifty -- hell, even 25 years ago, you probably wouldn't have heard of an APA or an American Dark Lager. Maybe a California Common, but probably only in specific regions.
Yes, I'm sure it's market-driven; they'd be pants-on-head morons not to consider the P&L when looking at a move like this. I just think it's interesting that the historical dynamic has come full circle.
