Bleach Bomb
Hey Guys and Gals! It has been a while since I was a regular poster. Things here have been quite busy! Now that things are slowing down, I am getting that itch! I want to brew again! I am looking at creating a recipe, but there is something bothering me. I think that I may have had an infection move into my bottling equipment. Tubing is cheap enough, and I guess so is the bottling wand, but I hate to drop $10 on an auto siphon and another couple on a spigot. I am gonna replace the fermenter, bottling bucket, tubing, wand. Should I just chock it up to a loss and drop the $10, or should I bleach bomb it? And if I bomb it, what concentration bleach should I use?

Re: Bleach Bomb
I would just replace it, if you're already going to replace the bottling bucket might as well go all the way. Think of it as insurance.
Re: Bleach Bomb
When in doubt, swap it out.
Do it for the beer.
Oh, good to see you again.

Re: Bleach Bomb
I agree. Better to spend a sawbuck and be sure than risk effing up a batch of beer (which also costs money, needless to say).

Re: Bleach Bomb
Mark the old one 'wild' (and old tubing, bottling wand etc.) and keep it separate from the new stuff.
Use it for lacto or other sour beers.
But get new for your normal beers.
I have been changing my auto syphon(s) out every two years, bottling wand seems to last longer and is still ok, tubing a couple of times a year.

Re: Bleach Bomb
Let it gooooo. Let it gooooo! 10 bucks for new lines n such is cheaper than dumping more than that on ingredients.
