Mixer-sixer thread
Not every place allows you to make a mixer-sixer but when they do I think it's a great thing. I just found a local shop about 10 minutes away that has a pretty good beer selection and allows this so I decided to pick up a 6-pack for my upcoming trip to the lake. This way I can just recycle the bottles instead of worrying about bringing them back - plus, I get some variety for the days on the water.
I went to a few favorites but grabbed a few new ones, too:
Lagunitas CENSORED (formerly known as The Kronik) - One of my favorite ambers, although they refer to it as a Copper Ale
Lagunitas Pale Ale - Better than a lot of IPAs out there IMO. Love it.
Speakeasy Prohibition Ale - Another solid amber
Monkey Knife Fight Pale Ale - Haven't had it yet but how do you pass up something with a name like that?
Firestone Pivo Pils: I'm not a huge fan of Pilsners but this one gets such rave reviews I figured "why not?"
Ballast Point Calico Amber: I've not had a bad beer from Ballast Point so I'm giving this a shot, too. It is listed as an English-style ESB/Amber and I generally prefer American Ambers because I have a major distaste for any diacytel but I'm willing to give it a try
This also represents me getting back to my 'roots' and my love of ambers and pale ales.
Now the trick is not touching them until next Sunday....God give me strength.

Pretty sweet score Ron, I'd like to try the Lagunitas pale ale. I don't remember seeing it were I shop, they also allow you to mix a six. Going there today after work so I'll have to look for it. Good luck leaving them alone and remembering that more is just 10min away

Oh, that was just mean! But made me laugh (and realize that I could always get more). If you pick up a mixer, make sure to post up!
Re: Mixer-sixer thread
My LHBS sells mixed sixes, so does Stop-n-Shop. I just bought some PAs and IPAs in Georgetown, De. Everything I bought was decent, and unavailable at home.

Nice. Mixed sixers are the only way to go. I haven't had a straight six pack in I can't remember when.

With Oktoberfest upon us, and my craving for the malty beers associated with it, I'm gonna have to make a trip to Total Wind and make a mixer sixer. A few traditional German ones, and maybe a few American renditions (save for the Sam Adams one since I just had some this weekend prior).

Re: Mixer-sixer thread
I love mixer-sixer's and get one every other week on payday. My problem is I always put in two Ommegang Abbey Ales because I really like them and that takes away from other things I should try.

Nope, sorry. You got two Flipsides so this doesn't count.

These beers are calling to me and I fear that one of them won't make it through the night. The question is: Which one?
