My beer friend Jeff Mello from Bootleg Biology spent some time at the Middle Tennessee Museum of Natural History today attempting to harvest yeast from their newly unearthed T-Rex bone, as well as an ancient turtle shell and petrified wood that were recently unearthed...

Re: T-Rex yeast
I think I'll likely get one of the home yeast wrangling kits at some point. I eyed them at Jeff's booth at the Yazoo Funk Fest and was plenty intrigued... They are attempting to build the most diverse collection of yeasts ever collected from throughout America. Their goal is to get at least one yeast harvested from each zip code in the country.

Re: T-Rex yeast
The yeast ranching might be fun. I wonder what weird thing I can find around here to harvest from? Maybe an etrog - those will be appearing in my neighborhood soon enough.
