I think I read on this forum that beer will skunk quickly in a clear glass in sunlight. Sounds right, but I had not experienced it until today. I was drinking Lagunitas IPA in a bar with a patio. My buddy suggested we go outside, it was a beautiful day. We weren't outside five minutes before I noticed the difference. I wasn't looking for it, had not thought of it. But it was there. When I pointed it out, my buddy noticed too.
We still finished our beers.

Re: Fast Skunking
I wouldn't think it would happen that fast, but.... Well, it's your experience.

Yes I've had it happen, usually a little longer time though. I was cutting brush one day and had a home brew in a mug on my 6x6 in the sun and I kind of forgot about it for a little while, then I remembered and figured it was getting warm, wow it did taste skunky. I thought it might have been a home brew thing. The best way to take care of that problem is to Drink them up before that happens and get another one ASAP

Re: Fast Skunking
I posted about this once before a year or so ago.
I was sitting on the patio talking to my wife one morning, (yeah, I was on third!) with a homebrew
in a clear pint glass and before she finished her smoke, it had skunked! 5-10 mins at the most.
I've often wondered if it's the amount of hops, or the type of hops, or the combination, that make it turn so fast.

TT, I wondered about the hops too. It was an IPA.
Dave, when I've read this before I was surprised also. In fact, I was surprised when it happened to me. Though maybe it was more than five minutes, chatting, sipping, relaxing. But it couldn't have been over 10, I was only 1/4 into the beer!
