I'm acting like a n00b
Checked the SG on both the Copperbottom Lager and the Trilby Brown Ale on Sunday. Checked them again today. Found myself getting impatient even though it's only been a little over two weeks for the lager and just ten days for the brown ale. They're both about 0.006 above the projected FG. They look and taste very good; they're just not ready yet, and I shouldn't be impatient.
How long have I been doing this?? How many times have I advised someone in similar circumstances to RDWHAHB??

Must be something about this time of year. Been very n00bish myself lately. At least you are using a hydrometer and checking gravity though. A true n00b would already be bottling and trying to drink it next week!
Fermenting: Bucket 1 - Fresh Squeezed IPA; Bucket 2 - Empty
Kegged: Keg 1 - Irish Red; Keg 2 - Cream Ale; Keg 3 - Amber Ale; Keg 4 - APA; Keg 5 - Empty; Keg 6 - Empty; Keg 7 - Empty
The reason why the above list is so small Home Theater Build

Yeah, at least I got that going for me!
One question, though, do you think it's too early to add the radishes?

Yup, tis the season. Have my CHAOS IPA that I have been itching to try. I THINK I convinced myself that since I am putting it on gas and not bottling, even if it isnt quite done it will be fine in a keg. Will see if I listen to my n00b self of my smart self when I get home.gwcr wrote:Must be something about this time of year. Been very n00bish myself lately. Fighting the temptation to pull a sample of my Extractly That Lager that has only been in the lager fridge for 6 days. I know it needs to be another week to 10 days before the SG needs checked for the D-Rest. But itching to see whats going on since its the first lager! MUST RESIST, MUST RESIST!

I did the D rest last week; it was about 75% of the way toward FG.russki wrote:Time for a D-rest for the lager!FedoraDave wrote:They're both about 0.006 above the projected FG.

Hmm... usually lagers reach their FG at the end of the D-rest... You may want to keep it around 60-65F for a few days to help it finish the last few points.FedoraDave wrote:I did the D rest last week; it was about 75% of the way toward FG.russki wrote:Time for a D-rest for the lager!FedoraDave wrote:They're both about 0.006 above the projected FG.
