Borg NFL Survivor 2014 challenge

Hello to all my Borg family. I'm back!!! (well as time allows anyway ) We are listed so now we wait and watch the market in Roanoke.

ANY HOOO... as the defending champ of last years Borg NFL Survivor (and because BB2 goes into his football zone this time of year) I thought I'd throw out the gauntlet.

I have scripted the first 6 games looking at nothing but the schedule so I should be easy to beat early if there are any takers out there.

Here's my picks each week:
1) NYJ over OAK
2) WSH over JAX
3) CHI over NYJ
4) ATL over MIN
5) PIT over JAX
6) TEN over JAX


BB2 was the commish of sorts last year so he'll answer any questions re: the rules and such but I think you have to get your pick in an hour before kick-off.

Awesome GMan and glad you want to play but FYI you didn't have to pick more than the first game two weeks from now. I just threw those out to hinder myself early to get some competitive juices flowing among last years players and hope to recruit some new interest.

So I challenge our BEERBORG FANTASY FOOTBALL players to participate in the 2014 Survivor Challenge.

(I looked at BB1's notes, but I am not brave enough to pick for weeks #2-5 yet).

Borg NFL Survivor

Its really quite easy.


Of course I lasted two weeks last year.

The only goal is - SURVIVAL.

1. EACH WEEK OF THE NFL SEASON AND PLAYOFFS, PICK A WINNER - choose any team playing against any other team. It does not matter if someone else also picks the same team to win.

Post your picks in this thread. You must post at least one hour before your team kicks off. Sunday Night/Monday Night picks must be posted one hour before the late Sunday afternoon games (so everyone can see who is active).


2. IF THE TEAM YOU PICKED WINS YOU PROGRESS. Otherwise dry your tears and post letting everyone know that you are OUT.

Next week pick another - but ONLY if you are still IN. Losers may not post any more picks (well, trash talk's OK).

Please post a list of all teams you have selected in your weekly posts, because ...

3. **** NOW FOR THE CATCH - you can only pick each NFL team ONCE . Through the season AND the postseason. You cannot choose them again until after a reboot. (For example, your AFC Wildcard team wins, congratulations you have burned a contender ).

4. Reboot - after we have one last man standing, he (she) is a GOD(-ess). All pick history is erased, all can start picking over again with a fresh start, repeating each time we have a winner up through the Superbowl !

BlackDuck... and others who didn't play last season I've never gotten into fantasy football with the rating and drafting etc. but I like playing this because you are each team against that weeks opponent. There is scouting to be done to make a good decision but it isn't as complicated as FF to me.
Simply try and find a team that will beat its opponent while keeping the strongest teams available for the playoffs.
Based on last year, where we started somewhat late into the season there should one or more resets before the playoffs if you are a risk taker.

Have a look see BD you don't need to make a move until the real season starts I just wanted to get a head of steam going on it and I see that we have a few risk takers out of the gate early which is a good sign that excitement will follow.

I'll make a pick this week, I really haven't looked at the schedule yet. If I'm away for other games, I'll pick in advance. (Assuming I don't wipe out on week 1!)

I was out Week 1 last year, too! Maybe Week 2, but @#@!*!@&!! nonetheless!

I'm starting with the Patriots over the Dolphins.

Anybody going to be brave and try the Packers vs. Seahawks game?

I'm waiting a bit to see how my 49ers step up this year before using them. at this point, half of our defense has been arrested for one thing or another so we've got at least 2-3 players currently suspended. Don't get me started on overpaid boys who can't control themselves....*sigh*

I was eliminated in week 1 last year. Didn't even realize there was a "reboot" rule - after Pittsburgh (I think it was) lost for me in week 1, I never looked in the thread again!

Anyway, for my next trick, I open the 2014 season with.........

Chicago (over Buffalo).



EDIT - just noticed gwcr and I have basically the same story about last year, AND the same pick for week 1 this year. Doesn't bode well for either of us, I guess!
