The 99 pack

Post by swenocha »

Austin brewery just unveiled a 99-pack of beer

Image
Austin Beerworks is now selling 99-packs of its Peacemaker Anytime Ale for a scant $99.99.

You read that right. The case holds 99 12-ounce cans, or 1,188 ounces of beer — equivalent to a wall keg, which is more than a pony keg but less than import kegs or full kegs, according to Wikipedia. The brewery operates out of a nondescript warehouse in an industrial park off of West Anderson Lane, have been so far unsuccessful.

In order to contain all that heft, Austin Beerworks stores the cans in a massive seven-foot-long cardboard case that takes at least two people to carry safely and cannot, at least judging by the promotional video the company produced, be easily transported in your standard sedan.

If you're from here you hear two things a lot; "Keep Austin Weird" and "Keep Austin Beered". The locals take both statements quite seriously. ;)

OH COME ON, GUYS and GALS! Alright then. I'll post the obvious post...

Sing with me:

"99 cans of beer in a box.
99 cans of beer.
Take one out, pass it about
98 cans of beer in a box.

98 cans of beer in a box.
etc. etc...."

Things men have made with wakened hands, and put soft life into
Are awake through years with transferred touch and go on glowing
For long years.
And for this reason some old things are lovely
Warm still with the life of forgotten men who made them.

I saw this on facebook and also thought it would be perfect for a debaucherous night of partying. At $1.01 per beer, that's a steal!

Ingenious. I read they made 20 of these, demand exceeded supply on day one. It was on our local news the other night (Detroit). PR is priceless when you don't pay for it

At one time I'd buy a six pack, then a 12 was better, then they came out with 18 packs and that was good, of course a case of 24 is better. 30 packs are good for a few days if I don't have a lot of company. A 99 pack just might last me all week. :)

They actually are a small craft brewery and rate decently (but not exceptionally) on BA. This particular beer gets in the 70's from the users and the Bros. The brewery gets an average 3.94 out of 5 overall. I know my cousin who lives down there is a fan of the stuff. She runs a site devoted to canned craft beer, and that's one she focused on. It's a extra pale/blonde ale, so likely nothing terribly exciting, but it sounds like a good gateway beer to me..
