Great news coming from Pabst

Post by swenocha »

Pabst is bringing back Ballentine IPA, which was America's first IPA, brewed first in 1878. Hoping to see this on the shelves soon. It says it will be released in the Northeast in September, and may go national if it is popular. So... who's in the northeast and is interested in sending me a 750ml bottle? I'll compensate with a nice Yazoo Preservation Ale for your troubles...

I remember when you could buy a six pack of Ballentine for $.99 at A&P.

But are they doing it right? (How'd ya like to be that dude?)

EDIT: It sounds tasty to me, but I'm sure the recreated beer based on some 50's version of it is really nothing at all like what came out of those open fermenters back in the day, which I'm sure wasn't like the 50's version of it either.

I'll keep my eyes peeled and send you some if I can, Chas. I'll PM you if/when I see it.

That guy actually drowned in a beer vat soon after the pic was taken. Four of his co-workers jumped in to save him but he fought them off.

Are awake through years with transferred touch and go on glowing
For long years.
And for this reason some old things are lovely
Warm still with the life of forgotten men who made them.

When they informed his widow, she asked if they thought he suffered at all. And they told her no, probably not, since he got out three times to go to the bathroom.

Zorak, I am in West Michigan now but I grew up in Garden City, and worked at the A&P in Telegraph in Taylor.
