Date of Grain Sack? Deal Shipped?

I was in LHBS the other night. They have sacks of two-row, with numbers stenciled on them. But none looked like a date. How do I know how old it is? And, If I don't buy local, can anyone suggest a source with shipping that won't double the price? Or is that a pipe(line) dream?
