It's kind of like a cross between a plum and a peach.BlackDuck wrote:Never heard of a pluot....what in the world is it?

Re: ever hear of a pluot?
russki is correct. Pluot = PLUm + apricOT. And yes, they are mighty tasty!

I've heard of them but never tried them. I'm not sure they are available in my area or not - but I don't do the grocery shopping either.

I knew peach wasn't quite right but couldn't think of the name of the second fruit.

Re: ever hear of a pluot?
They are also called plumcots. I've seen beer made with them before but never tasted any. Also, demonstrating my vast wealth of useless knowledge, they may be found under the name aprium.

Re: ever hear of a pluot?
My wife recently tried some pluots, and she didn't care for them at all.
I'm not big on fruit beers, so I probably wouldn't want to brew with them anyway.

Maybe in a wheat, with some lighter hops , like citra, would be nice. And of a Saison would work nicely too.
