Recipe Collaboration Exchange - Fall 2014
Well, it's past Labor Day now, and that means four things:
1) Kids go back to school
2) You can no longer wear white
3) Pumpkin beers will be flooding the market
4) It's time for another Recipe Collaboration Exchange
Those of you who know about the RCE can skip this post and just sign up. Anyone new to the concept, here's how it works.
You determine for yourself what level you are based on the following criteria:
Level 1 - Only done HME kits such as Mr. Beer or BrewDemon
Level 2 - Have done extract recipes with hops addition; maybe some specialty grains
Level 3 - Have done Partial Mash and/or larger kits, such as those sold by Midwest or Northern Brewer
Level 4 - Have done AG and formulated original AG recipes
Sign up by replying to this thread, indicating your Level. When the close-out date comes, I'll pair all the names/levels by picking names out of a hat (natch) and post the pairings in a new thread. The participants then contact their partners via PM or email or however, and start working on a recipe together. Once the recipe is nailed down, you both brew it, and you have a new beer that you created with a new Borg friend.
You don't need to brew it at the same time. You don't need to actually exchange your beers with each other, unless you want to. There is no deadline, so don't give me any crap about being too busy, or not planning on brewing until Thanksgiving. The point of this is coming up with a recipe together, and maybe trying a style you're not all that familiar with, or using an ingredient you haven't used before, or a technique you've wanted to try but didn't feel the time was right. Most important, it's a way to get to know another Borg member better and make some beer.
Close-out will be Sept. 21. I'll be brewing a batch of 2 Daves Irish Red that morning, which is appropriate, as it's one of my favorites, and came about as a result of an RCE a few years ago. I'll be able to make the pairings during the mash and will post them that morning.
As usual, if a moderator can make this a sticky across the Borg, I'd be obliged.
So sign up, and remember to include your Level of experience.

As much as I've 100% enjoyed this every time, I'm going to pass for the first time.
Got some minor knee surgery in 2 weeks and I know there is no locked in time limit, but I just have too many things stacked up against me right now.
If it looks like there's a miss-matched number, let me know and I'll see how I can work around all I have going on.
To those who've not done this, YOU REALLY SHOULD! it's great fun, a learning experience and you get to know a borg member all the better.

The reason why the above list is so small Home Theater Build

Haven't been able to do one of these in a while, and haven't brewed in a while. Well... I guess that means I gotta be in, right? I'm level 4, but will work at whatever level you need me at to make the pairs even.

Count me in! I'm level 4 but would enjoy working with any level. I have had a great time in my past RCEs, and have ended up with some great recipes.
Re: Recipe Collaboration Exchange - Fall 2014
I'm in.
Level 4 please.
I'd be happy to go at level 3 if you need a pairing.

Re: Recipe Collaboration Exchange - Fall 2014
Swen, I appreciate the offer. I'm trying to keep the levels fairly equal, not mixing them up too much. I've learned over time that it seems to work out better that way. But I'll keep it in mind.
