Guess who else is emailing to missing commenters

Post by whynot »

Yesterday I got a 2x4 from the Borg (actually a nice email reminder).

Today brings a "new forum" message from Mr B, with bonus survey. If they resurrected all the old posts they lost last upgrade, it may be worth a look see. I remember many here lost quite a bit back then.

One day I am going to finally go and take myself off their e-mail list. The delete button is just so convenient though (and they do come up with some funny/stupid stuff).

I have no problem readily ignoring any emails I get from Mr. CoopBeer. I bear them no ill will, and I'll always be grateful to them for serving as my introduction to homebrewing.

That being said, I'm also grateful to my mom for carrying me up to bed and tucking me in when I was a kid.

But I think I've outgrown both, and at least my mom didn't pull any rugs out from under me.

I opened the e-mail and laughed when I read: "Mr.Beer has an exciting announcement *drum roll please*…. The new Mr.Beer forum is almost here! In the next few weeks, we will be rolling out a brand new, updated forum for Mr.Beer users." First I wondered what are they going to screw up now that the forum had already been butchered, but I haven't been there in months to see if any improvements had been made. Then I wondered how long the "next few weeks" would be. I took the survey and left a long list of what I disliked about their forum and said the damage was done and opted to not help them test their "new" forum. I don't think they could ever get back up to a point to be as good as it once was, let alone as good as this place is.

So far they have ignored me with this new campaign. I guess I should feel honored or thankful?

Yeah, me too. I've heard nothing of this. They've officially dumped both of their big contest winners. LOL Thankful might be my thought on this...

I also received the email from Mr. Beer and the only thing I could think of was, I wonder how radical this upgrade is going to be?

I got the e-mail yesterday and all I can say is I think they should hire Goodell as the marketing manager... a perfect fit.

I told them I'd have a look. Really just hoping I'll be able to retrieve some info I had stored there I haven't been able to replace. Then it'll be ta ta y'all
in their survey they want to know what other brewing communities you belong to. With several choices like Home Brew Talk and Beer Advocate with beerborg.com conspicuously absent. I did, however, rectify that situation in the space provided... I figure they'll rescind their invitation now
"Filled with mingled cream and amber
I will drain that glass again.
Such hilarious visions clamber
Through the chambers of my brain
-- Quaintest thoughts -- Queerest fancies
Come to life and fade away;
Who cares how time advances?
I am drinking ale today."

I still contribute on their forum and got nothing.
I have over 9,000 posts on "another forum", which means absolutely nothing. Mr. Beer January 2014 Brewer of the Month with all the pomp and circumstance that comes with it...
