He likes it! Hey Mikey!
I heard from my future son-in-law yesterday (affectionately known as "The Mike") regarding the samples of Groomsman's Pride I gave him earlier in the month.
Here's what he said:
"We both really liked it. We were impressed by the flavor profiles in it. I think that recipe is a real winner."
So I've got the recipe nailed down, it seems. That's a load off my mind. I just hope his groomsmen feel the same way.

That is great Dave. Congratulations.

Good deal Dave, I was wondering how you were making out with that because you haven't updated us lately. How much are you going to brew and when you going to brew it to be able to get some good conditioning time?

That's fantastic Dave. Don't worry about the groomsmen, if he's happy, your daughters happy.

Well, the wedding is Labor Day Sunday. And this is an IPA, so if it's young, that's not a bad thing.berryman wrote:Good deal Dave, I was wondering how you were making out with that because you haven't updated us lately. I figure if I brew it no later than mid-June, I'll be good to go.

Well, not really. This is a gift for Michael to give to the two fellows serving as his groomsmen. I figure if I make a five-gallon batch, each of his two friends will get a case, The Mike will get a case, and I'll get a case.D_Rabbit wrote:So after the wedding you can change the name of it to Anniversary IPA
Everyone wins.

Or it could be "gee, how many times is my future father in-law going to ask me to try a batch? Sheesh, it's just beer already. "
I have over 9,000 posts on "another forum", which means absolutely nothing. Mr. Beer January 2014 Brewer of the Month with all the pomp and circumstance that comes with it...

OK,it's early and I'm just starting my first cup of coffee. Help me with my beer math here. I normally get 48-54 bottles per 5 gallon batch, 24 bottles in a case and you're gonna get 4 cases from one batch? Are you doing two batches of beer or 12 to a case.FedoraDave wrote:D_Rabbit wrote: I figure if I make a five-gallon batch, each of his two friends will get a case, The Mike will get a case, and I'll get a case.

Re: He likes it! Hey Mikey!
I'm counting 12 to a case. I usually get at least 48 bottles from a fiver.
Now that I've had my coffee, I can see that my math and/or terminology is/are wrong. But it's always been my understanding that each groomsman gets 2 sixers. There would be great difficulty otherwise, as these people are all city-dwellers and therefore don't have cars of their own. Not that riding the subway with 24 bottles of beer hasn't been done before, but who needs the hassle?

That's great Dave. When my little neighbor got engaged a few years ago I brewed a Saison for their shower and it was a big hit. I felt really good about giving a gift I put a lot of work into and they really appreciated the sentiment. The topping of it all was the label I used for the bottles - it was one of their engagement pictures.
Congrats on the successful brew and here's to hoping the re-brew goes smoothly!

the only thing that goes with morning is going back to sleep
