Happy Brewer

Post by John Sand »

Me. I'm drinking my Crazy Hoptimism, a Green Flash WCIPA clone. It is actually great. Last time I tried this, I dipped an unsanitized cup in the wort for a sample before pitching. Bam! infected. Last year I went through some brew trials: mediocre beer, infected beer, leaking beer. My last two batches at the homebrew club were deemed "professional quality", and I think this one will blow them away. I've also brewed enough good beer that I mostly drink my own. Don't get me wrong, I'm not smug. Only a couple of months ago I brewed Centennial Blonde, and it's not right. Even this batch was all over in mash temps, and my Punkin Head undershot OG. I'm just so far ahead of where I was, and enjoying the moment. Thanks to the Borg for help, advice, comradeship and encouragement.

It's great when the ball is rolling and I hope it continues for you. It's very satisfying to take the time to make a good beer and then it comes up just like you wanted to but even better. Myself, I've hit a low spot but am working hard to correct it.
Keep up the good work and happy brewing!

Thanks BL. I was so frustrated last year that I considered giving it up. But I worked through it, you will too. Years ago I had a book on learning the harmonica. It defined frustration as the feeling just before a breakthrough.
I never did learn the harmonica.... :)

That's great to hear John. I think we can all appreciate that moment when you first taste one of your beers and it turned out exactly how you wanted it to! It's a very rewarding feeling, for sure.

Last night at work we had a beer-bash just to celebrate some hard work that has finished up. I bought the beer (mainly because I was sick of having Corona, Modela Negra and Sierra Nevada to chose from). As everybody gathered and I was greeting everybody I had not less than 10 people ask why I didn't bring in my beer. I've brewed for office parties before and it went over well. I was very flattered.

Nice, Kealia.
This has been coming along slowly for me, but the beers have been getting better reviews. I'm pretty critical of my own beer, but if the rest of this batch is as good, I give it an A+, my first. It passed it's second test today too: my wife loves it.

That's the best endorsement one could ask for. Good to see the your brewing good beer is falling in place.
