Brewers and Beards
Looks like a local Louisville Brewery, Against the Grain (my favorite local brewery by far), did a commercial with Wahl It does seem like a lot of brewers have beards doesn't it?

You have to have a convenient place to store your yeast...
Re: Brewers and Beards
Your right...it does seem like all the popular breweries have guys with huge beards.
I can't grow a beard if I tried, a little goat-tee, but no beard. I guess I should quit brewing, 'cause I just cant' fit in right!!!

Re: Brewers and Beards
I've had my "winter" beard going since Sept. 1st. Won't be respectable for another month. Much like the Pumpkin beer I have conditioning now.

Re: Brewers and Beards
I have had no luck growing much of any facial hair, doesn't seem to run in the family, too bad, I can't imagine how my beer would taste if I had a beard! Maybe there is a link to the two words sounding so similar, beer and beard.... Further research must be done, I am going to go have some beer from these brewers with beards..

Re: Brewers and Beards
It does to seem to be that way, We've had a lot of fun at the old MB site and here on the Borg about brewers beards. I got mine going again this year after have been clean shaven all summer. This was me last winter and the wife didn't like to show up in in public with me.... I guess I don't blame her....yankfan9 wrote: It does seem like a lot of brewers have beards doesn't it?
This year I will be more refined on the beard and the hat.

Re: Brewers and Beards
My company doesn't allow beards (pesticides get trapped and held in beards, and they make getting a good fit with a respirator impossible).

This weekend my brew club will have a tent set up handing out samples of our beers at the Bands, Beards and BBQ Festival in the area. Since I can't grow a beard I will just supply beer and enjoy the bands and BBQ.

Re: Brewers and Beards
I'll agree every brewer, except Gretchen Schmidhausler, I've ever met in and away from breweries has a beard. I'm not sure why either maybe they don't have enough time to shave or something.

I've had a beard since I got out of the Army in '83.

Did she say it was the beard, or did you just assume that?berryman wrote:This was me last winter and the wife didn't like to show up in in public with me.... I guess I don't blame her....
Yeah, that's unfortunately true for a respirator, or any breathing device that doesn't have positive pressure. When I was a firefighter many moons ago I got grief about my beard (and it wasn't much of one), but the positive pressure breathing masks we had made it irrelevant since the pressure would flow out any opening and stop smoke from coming in. This was right when the technology changed over, prior to that if you didn't inhale the tank didn't release air. I didn't shave...fedoradave wrote:My company doesn't allow beards (pesticides get trapped and held in beards, and they make getting a good fit with a respirator impossible).
I have over 9,000 posts on "another forum", which means absolutely nothing. Mr. Beer January 2014 Brewer of the Month with all the pomp and circumstance that comes with it...
