11 things you ingest that age you prematurely???

Post by zorak1066 »

a Detroit news channel's website listed 11 things that 'scientists' claim age you prematurely. among the 11 were chocolate, coffee and beer. what a crock. coffee gives me energy when I otherwise would be a zombie. chocolate , like bacon (to me) gives me enjoyment which in turn lowers stress. beer? seriously? beer and alcohol in general lifts my spirits .. sometimes helps me sleep when the days stress wont let my head shut off... helps me mellow out just a tad... all good things that lower stress.

I say 'screw you "science"! ' as long as I stay fat I can always count on my fat cells pushing out the wrinkles of aging! besides I am over 50. I'm supposed to look like I am over 50 and not a skinny 15 year old. bah!

in honor of this ridiculous 'study' I am going to splurge and buy me a bottle of Afflingem Dubbel this morning on my way home from work. . . and I am drinking it all with my breakfast which will surely have bacon in it somewhere .. and chocolate cake with chocolate and vanilla pudding and coffee in it!

so HA! take that 'science'.

I just read an article that mentioned the good that coffee, in moderation, can be for you. I've seen studies that beer, again in moderation, can be good for you.
Air is good for you but too much can kill you too!
What a job to do all these studies all the time. I want to do a study on those people who do studies and find out what's bad about doing studies. :laugh

I agree, it's articles like that one that'll make you age prematurely. They all claim how bad stress is for you but there's nothing but stressful studies and medical information published it seems. Eggs are good, eggs are bad, milk is good, milk is bad they can't even cure a cold after how many decades? I could be that too much science can make us all neurotic and what good is that?

"Neurosis may be defined simply as a "poor ability to adapt to one's environment, an inability to change one's life patterns, and the inability to develop a richer, more complex, more satisfying personality."

I like coffee as much as I like beer and who doesn't like bacon. Life is a constant trade off of quality versus quantity. If you drink a pot of coffee a day and drink a six pack of beer a night then....well ok bad example, if you eat a pound of bacon a day you should enjoy it enough to accept the health risks.

Nearly everything, consumed in moderation, is fine. Nearly everything, consumed in excess, isn't fine. Unfortunately, most of America consumes many things in excess, including beer.

What station? I also offer my dad up as disproof of this nonsense. He is 86 looks 66 anb moves like a 50 year old. He has had at least a beer a day since childhood. He grew up in Germany everyone drank beer that was the only thing the well water was good for. Still drinks his beer he has cut back on the coffee and chocolates though

Children! I bet they didn't include children in that list.

99% of the time children - at all and any age - are wonders, joys and miracles. But that 1% can put years on you in no time at all. So then we drink beer and eat chocolate to ease the stress and they get the blame for our premature aging.

Science is so ignorant.

Things men have made with wakened hands, and put soft life into
Are awake through years with transferred touch and go on glowing
For long years.
And for this reason some old things are lovely
Warm still with the life of forgotten men who made them.

Yeah, the secret to a long life and looking younger than your age is picking your grandparents carefully. My mom is in her late 80s, and you'd think she was in her 60s. Her hair isn't even completely gray!

As for these scientific studies....

Everyone said it couldn't be done.
And who knows? Maybe it can't.
But I'm just a guy
Who's willing to try
If someone will give me a grant.

Follow the money in a lot of these cases, and you'll find the results were bought and paid for. Sorry to be so cynical, but this is the way of the world.
