PACKAGE RECEIVED.....

Post by D_Rabbit »

AND PRODUCT DAMAGED!! Freaking 3 months of waiting for this god damn product and I get the package the conical has a giant dent in the side of it. Normally I might not care but this is supposed to be a sturdy and rugged conical. How much of that sturdiness is compromised because the plastice that isn't supposed to disform, comes disformed!!

Not happy. Sending an email to them right now and seeing what they will do.

Here is my email and a few photos. Lets see how they respond.

Hello,
I received my conical today, approximately 20 minutes ago. And like anyone waiting for a product for 3 months I was very eager to open this up and get it cleaned out and ready for its first batch.
Upon opening the box, all the accessories where on to and everything seemed fine, until I pulled out the conical. The conical has a giant dent in the side of it. I tried to push out the dent but the product remains deformed in several locations.
I would like this replaced with one that is not damaged. I can send this one back to you upon receipt of a new one.
Thank you for your understanding and prompt response.
Daniel Roy

Wow, that's disappointing. And didn't you say that they changed the stand (after you pre-paid) for it?

They decided not to make the tall stand, which I had not paid for at that point. But I did have every intention of buying it.

I got an Auto Response from them on it......

What did they do, drop-kick it all the way to your house?

Unacceptable, and it sucks, too.

Sorry for your disappointment, Dan. If they have any integrity, they'll make good on this ASA-freakin'-P.

Don't kill me for expressing the other side (though I, in no way, am taking up for these guys) but it's likely a numbers game. They seemed to have a zillion of these going out all at once so it's a roll the dice and get lucky time.
Of course, if it's not packed properly, that's another story but if they did any testing and working with UPS (or whatever shipper they use) they should know exactly what is needed to insure a successful shipment and delivery of a very high percentage of packages. UPS is more than happy to work with companies to help insure a safe delivery. The last thing UPS wants is to have to pay for damaged shipments though they can afford paying for a zillion of them.
I hope you get this taken care of. I'm sure they'll make it right though maybe not as fast as you'd like.

The box wasn't dented?

I suspect they did not work with UPS or anyone else. To me, everything about this smelled amateurish from the beginning. They violated FTC rules with the delayed shipping.

Always my biggest fear when ordering something new from a company I've never dealt with before, they skimp on packing when shipping their products to keep costs down. Obviously the box they shipped in should have been placed inside a larger box with air bag or styrofoam used to fill in the space between the boxes, that extra cost for shipping will no doubt save them money and customer loyalty in the long run. Sorry to hear that this happened let us know what they do to compensate you for the damage and hassle of having to deal with them about it.

A simple cardboard collar, or foam inserts, may have worked. Or heavier gauge cardboard. All would have been caught by UPS if their assistance had been sought by the company.

One thought - would filling it with water pop out the dents?

I understand beer-lord. Like you said, its a numbers game, I just came up short on that draw. Some extra packing support might have helped but the way it was dented it looked like the corner was dinged right where the fat part touches all sides of the box so I don't think it would have helped.

Filling with water won't do anything. I tried undenting it and it left it with a nice wavy surface. The plastic is pretty rigid, except when it gets dropped or kicked around it seems.

That's the problem when you buy from a Kickstarter company, you never know who is packing the box...

Weirdest thing happened today! My wife was asking about the dent and packaging so I decided to pull it out and show it to her...... DENT GONE! I couldn't even find an area that looked like it had been deformed! I was shocked. I actually had to get my phone to show my wife that I wasn't being stupid about it, because we all know our wives think we are idiots!

Anyways, i'll wait to see what kind of response I get from them anyways and let them know when I get it that it seems to have worked itself out.
