if I made an ale using cbw rye... which is base malt , and rye and something else... cant recall atm... and used warrior hops only...
then used black patent, chocolate and crystal 120 for a steep...
and yeast US05...
would this be a rye stout or what, assuming abv of about 4.5% ?

I guess it could be a rye stout or even a black RyePA. My opinion of most stouts (except maybe American stouts) are that they use a lower alpha hop. When high alpha hops are used, it puts you in the black ipa area.......at least that's my feelings and understanding of the style.
But, frack the style charts, make a beer that you'd like and then you can tweak it on the next one. That's the joy of homebrewing. Make a 'tweener'.

It would depend on how much hops and when they were added. IE 1/2oz only bittering @60 is more stoutish then if you add hops later... most of the rye extracts have some C40 too though. With that much crystal it might be more like a rye robust porter then stout. But whatever, it's beer!
