Mr Beer/Beer Machine Hybrid
Brewed up a nice and easy all extract batch yesterday. Took one can of old MB ADIPA, one can of old MB HCCP, 10 oz TBM Canadian Red Hopped DME and 6 oz table sugar. I'm calling it Canadian Red Ale-Pale: CRA-P, for short.
Re: Mr Beer/Beer Machine Hybrid
How old was that ADIPA? Been awhile since I saw that name.
Joe, I sincerely hope your CRA-P smells and tastes good!

Re: Mr Beer/Beer Machine Hybrid
I bought the ADIPA during the fire sale when Cooper's started introducing the new formulas. I bought a boat load of stuff about half price at that time, but it all expires in 2014 and 2015. I just need to use it all up even when I'd rather be doing BIAB.
As for the hops, I'm hoping that the ADIPA and HCCP have enough IBU to carry the little bit of DME I added. If the hop smell is too weak for me after a week of fermenting, I might just add a dry hop to it.
This might be the easiest batch I ever made. I usually can't control myself from at least some steeped grains, if not a little fresh hop boil or even a partial mini-mash. I have to admit, it feels so good to be lazy.

Re: Mr Beer/Beer Machine Hybrid
Actually, it's doing pretty good. There was a little spillover the first day, but now it's settled down nicely. I filled that sucker up real good and pitched heavily with harvested yeast, but I put in some defoamer, and it seems to work pretty good. The last 2 LBK's I filled up like this with harvested yeast were blowing over like crazy for days. Even though I have them in coolers, the mess was so much I just put them in the sink before I left for work in the morning. One of them had the cap blown off and there was stuff sprayed all over the kitchen. That's why I use the defoamer now.Brewbirds wrote:That ought to blow the lid off your LBK be sure and post pics.

Didn't Richard Pyror try something like that years ago?
