I mashed some Kashi 7-Grain Honey Puffs in a saison with some success. (nothing wrong with the beer, not sure it really added anything special to it though, I think I would need to mash a much larger amount - IE I would have added more flavor just using the same amount of flaked rye).

I think Swenocha did this too, but I don't have any idea how that beer turned out.

They use this stuff as a "dry hop" addition and not a mash addition though. I wonder if you would get more flavor from it that way instead of mashing it.

I have two variants of the Kashi saison that I've done, one with merlot-soaked oak cubes and one without. I'm giving them more time. I might try them again around Christmas. I like the non-oaked one at last taste, though it seems a bit too young (brewed in January). The oaked one is much too oak forward at last taste, so it definitely is a next year beer. I also used Clarity Ferm to make it gluten-free, Cubeb Berries, and sweet Orange Peel, so it had a lot going on...

I'm more of a Franken-Berry guy myself.

But that's a funny story.

Well I never would have thought of attempting such a thing but now it's got me curious about what cereals to try with what style of beers.

I love the "we did it as a joke first, but the beer turned out real good." Just goes to show that it takes quite a bit to screw up beer. :D

SWMBO was telling me this yesterday. But, it seems like it would be more of a secondary fermentation than a dry hop since it does contain sugars and starches.
