5 Year Anniversary!
Today is now 5 years I have been married! Feels like yesterday I took my vows. Definitely doesn't feel like 5 years. It has been a good run so far and I think the Mrs. and I are finally getting used to living together again. Some of you know and some may not that we lived apart for almost a year. Not because we were going to kill each other but because she took a job in Virginia and we still had a house in CT and I still had my job. The house took almost a year to sell and just as it sold I finally got a job offer in Virginia, so it worked out quite well.
Living apart for a year can really test a marriage. Her work was very accomodating and allowed her a week a month to work from home in CT so that helped a lot but the leaving to go back to Virginia made it even more difficult for a while because we never had a time frame for when the house would sell.
Anyways, we aren't really celebrating today although I did give her my gift. We capped our limits since we just bought the place in Virginia and are limited with funds. The 5 year anniversary is the Wood Anniversary! AND BOY DID I GIVE HER WOOD!! No really, I did. She always takes her rings off when she gets ready in the morning for work or when she sleeps or when she does the dishs so I bought a hand carved wooden hand so she can put her rings and such on the fingers when she does that stuff so she doesn't lose them. I found it on a site called uncommon goods which specializes in gifts that are different.
Anyways, the real fun is on Saturday. I booked a zip lining tour through Shanadoah Valley which lasts about 2 hours. We did that on our honeymoon and I thought it would be fun to do again. After that we will sample some wines and then have a nice dinner. Should be a good day and fun celebration.

Re: 5 Year Anniversary!
Glad you didn't say 5 LONG years. 'Cause they don't get any shorter.
Funny post. Hope she didn't get any splinters.
You'll find over time that giving her wood isn't the present she hoped for, but for some reason it's on your list every year.

Happy Anniversary!
"Filled with mingled cream and amber
I will drain that glass again.
Such hilarious visions clamber
Through the chambers of my brain
-- Quaintest thoughts -- Queerest fancies
Come to life and fade away;
Who cares how time advances?
I am drinking ale today."

Re: 5 Year Anniversary!
Congratulations on your wedding anniversary, and what also sounds like a potential second honeymoon too. My wife and I've celebrated eight of them so far and they seem to just keep getting better every year. Great of you to share your good news with us all, here's to at least seven more.
