My Oktoberfest, it's better now then the first sample, I guess it needs more time. Should have been brewed early spring. A lot darker then what I was looking for

Followed up my Honky Tonk diversion with a Goose Island event, which is part of Migration Week.

Image

Great tasting, with 2010 Juliet as the highlight in my view. Also had 2012 Juliet, Matilda, 2013 Pere Jacques, Sofie, Bourbon County Stout, Bourbon County Coffee Stout, and Lilith, which is one of the occasional ladies. It is a pomegranate berliner weisse that is normally only available in Chicago, but was brought down for Migration Week. I took home a growler of Lilith, and our tasting group got some coffee stout, 2010 Juliet, and 2010 Lolita for future tastings.

Anyone make the Migration Week in their town?

Weird! They're local (kind of - Blanco) and I've never seen the rye on a store shelf here in Austin.
Found an assortment pack with Brewhouse Brown, Fireman's #4, & Full Moon Pale Rye Ale in Waco, TX on Tuesday.

My son came for dinner and we drank Moosedrool clone, Mackinac Island Red and White House Honey Porter.

I had a bottle of Deschute's "Fresh Squeezed" IPA last night. Tasty but not anything I'd go nuts for.

Sorry if I caused any confusion.

That's interesting Chuck. A number of us are on a Fresh Squeezed" kick right now. But, everybody's tastes vary - as do our liking of styles so I can appreciate that this didn't knock your socks off.

I liked it. But I had bought it in a mixer-sixer so I only had one bottle of it. If I had bought a whole sixer or even a twelver of it I might have been disappointed. But as it was it was a good beer. It's got a ways to go before it will replace my Summit Brewing "Saga" though.
