The Google Map thing is great - and we don't have to reinvent it as it has nothing to do with the other forum. It's here: Google Map

Re: Hooking Up Regionally
I've got a relationship with a bed and breakfast and a really kickass bbq joint here in western new york and was thinking it would be fun to throw a tasting event either early fall or perhaps next summer. We've got quite a few micro breweries here and more opening up. Could be fun here in our sleepy little beach community.

I was thinking that it would be a good idea to start a new one, not because the other was proprietary (it's not), but because that map has lots of stale info on it, at this point -- users who haven't been on the MB site (never mind this one) for years. I figured: new forum, new map, new beginning.
If I find the time to tinker with Google maps, maybe I'll get a new one started, just for giggles.

Re: Hooking Up Regionally
I'd say it's quite simple, but it appears that one user had multiple issues, I just changed them to 1 vs 8 spots all together... It was setup so anyone can edit (mess it up).mtsoxfan wrote:How does one get added to thwe map?
Click on the link.
Navigate using the map (not typing in your address). Use the +/- and move around and zoom in. Find a spot NEAR your home, but not your home (for privacy).
Click on EDIT on the top right of the list of the left window.
Go back to map, right click on the location and pick "Add a Placemark".
Under Title, pur your name. On the icon field, click on it, then My Icons, and pick one.
Click Ok, then click Done on the left side.
Or, PM me your address (or a spot near you like "Ann Arbor, Michigan") and I can add you.

Re: Hooking Up Regionally
The only "bad" thing about keeping that map (other than some stale info) is the title. Mr. Beer Forum Users doesn't seem to be the right moniker...
Fermenting: Bucket 1 - Fresh Squeezed IPA; Bucket 2 - Empty
Kegged: Keg 1 - Irish Red; Keg 2 - Cream Ale; Keg 3 - Amber Ale; Keg 4 - APA; Keg 5 - Empty; Keg 6 - Empty; Keg 7 - Empty

Re: Hooking Up Regionally
OK, I took a stab at creating a new BeerBorg map. It's, uh, pretty blank at the moment, but I think I've got it set up where anyone can go in and add their marker, following Rick's instructions.
I've got no idea if this will work for anyone but me, so give it a try and report back any issues adding yourself.

I put my spot on there with a nice snowflake.
Thought it was appropriate for being located in FL.

Worked for me. It is a bit barren out there right now though...

Re: Hooking Up Regionally
OK, I've started a new thread dedicated to the BeerBorg map. Here it is:
viewtopic.php?f=6&t=295
Note that this is NOT INTENDED TO REPLACE the idea of a MUG/HUG/BUG forum. It's in addition to that idea. Implementation of said forum(s) is up to Louie, if/when appropriate.
Thanks to RickBeer for providing the inspiration to get me to figure out how to set this up -- it was easier than I expected.

Glad we have regional boards now. "Hooking Up" was really concerning me especially with some of our members...
