FrozenInTime wrote:Took a nice, quiet walk in the woods today, found an area where 3 huge deer runways crossed, lots of feed and water near by, several big areas were the field rats bed down. Set up a couple trail cameras, will go back mid week to retrieve them. We will set up a small blind in the area with the most activity, can't wait to get back out there with a bow in hand. I'm in the mood to hear twang/thump soon, this is the area: :jumpy:
Two more weeks for us until the deer fire-arms (shotgun/rifle) season opens up. Bow season has been open since mid-September. Not much to look forward to for fire-arms season this year. The last winter took a heck of a toll on the deer population and the wolves, coyotes and now cougars are adding to the decimation. I told my bro that, with or without a permit, if I see a wolf near my stand I'll shoot it (the old S-S-S method: Shoot, Shovel, Shut-up). A coyote will definitely feel the bite of my .30-06 and, if I see a cougar (I heard one scream a couple years ago well within a hundred yards of my stand. The reason why I stopped hunting up in northern Minnesota with my muzzle-loader and bought the .30-06) I'll shoot it just in self-defense.

You are right FIT! Drove up from Salt Lake City today, Yellowstone is closed, snow on the ground, chains required for driving through. Two mountain goats ran across the road in front of us while driving north on route 191 in the Gallatin National Forest. Staying in Butte Montana tonight, drinking some delicious local beers! Here's one of them: Bozeman Brewing Hopzone IPA

Holy crap what a busy week!! Started off this week with my head barely above water and it just piled on. Finally starting to catch up and tomorrow should get the reed back above water so i'm not drowning anymore.

On a positive note, I will be transferring my pumpkin beer to secondary this weekend and adding the spices.

I AM the "Kung-Fu" dude (with the possible exception that I have hair, I'm a little - alright, alot, more chunkier, (alright, ALRIGHT! FATTER! are you happy now) and older). I was just sitting here perusing the Borg when one of those little fruit-fly like flies flew right between me and the 'puter screen. I just reached out and snatched out of the air between my thumb and fore-finger. Just like Kung-Fu dude did on the TV show. Except he had to do it with full-size flies while I do it with fruit-fly sized flies. :p

I hope you guys are teasing. Since three medals are presented to every flight in competitions, and there were only two beers in it. I was kind of a shoo in. It's sort of like congratulating a baby for pooping in his diaper. Meant to be a bit of an absurdity on my part; but then, my wife does tell me that I have a lousy sense of humor.
BTW, hope you're doing well FIT. Did you ever try the recipe for the Bitchin' Red? One of these days, when I have the recipe exactly where I want it, I'll have to shoot you a couple of bottles. Beware though: it's kind of fattening. :p
