So either I fit in, or we are all simply a bunch of misfits. Either way, works for me!!!

I saw that infographic on the bookface earlier today. I don't make nearly as much as that yearly salary suggests, but I still make beer!

I think DaYooper hit it right....we are just a bunch of misfits!!

I wish I was making that much
"Filled with mingled cream and amber
I will drain that glass again.
Such hilarious visions clamber
Through the chambers of my brain
-- Quaintest thoughts -- Queerest fancies
Come to life and fade away;
Who cares how time advances?
I am drinking ale today."

I don't make that much either, but it does say "household income". I fit half of those stats.

Re: Homebrewing Stats
I'm not complaining, or arguing. But where you live has a lot of bearing on your lifestyle/income. We have the highest taxes, high utility rates, high housing costs, fuel costs. Even brew supplies are expensive!

Re: Homebrewing Stats
I must say, brewing supplies are pretty cheap here. There are low electric costs, no heating oil costs in the winter, although real estate is higher than it has been in the past. Sales tax is reasonable here, and there's no state income tax, so I def can't complain about that. But at the same time, I live a lifestyle that I can afford.
Re: Homebrewing Stats
Right with you there. When I retired a few years ago, plenty of guys said: "You're lucky." And I replied: "If you lived like I do, no new cars, small house, no credit card debt, you could retire too."

Re: Homebrewing Stats
Yeah that's the way we lived. Had everything we needed, just not everything the kids wanted. I've never bought a new car. Not willing to lose all that money to deprecation just driving it off the lot. Oh yeah and SWMBO was/is the barber ('cause haircuts are expensive. )

They didn't mention the most important and obvious stat:
100% LOVE good beer!
100% LOVE good beer!

And for this reason some old things are lovely

Re: Homebrewing Stats
John Sand speaks the truth. Living in the Northeast US (especially in the Metro NYC area, as he and I do) ain't cheap. SWMBO and I manage to get by, because we live a simple lifestyle without a lot of frills and extras. We're above the demographic as far as household income, but our house/property is small, we basically have a cash-only economy, and we stay home a lot.

Re: Homebrewing Stats
Well all that survey managed to do for me is confirm the fact that I'm too old, too poor and too dumb to be making beer. But I never listened well, anyway, so I'll just keep doing it.
