Evil Twin Brewing

Post by BlackDuck »

Anybody familiar with Evil Twin Brewing? They list their office in Brooklyn, NY, but I think they are actually out of Denmark. http://eviltwin.dk/ And if you click on the beers from their webpage, it seems like they are brewed all over the place. From Cerveja Tupiniquim, Brazil to Westbrook Brewing Co to Two Roads Brewing Co. to Fanø Bryghus, Denmark and some others.

Anyway, the local craft beer store just got a few of their beers in. Specifically the Lil B (Imperial Porter), the I Love You With My Stout (Imperial Stout), the Yin (Imperial Taiji Stout) and the Yang (Imperial Taiji India Pale Ale)

On their website they tout the Yang and the Yin as each being half of a Black and Tan drink and it suggests you mix the two. They have one called the Yin & Yang (which I'm guessing is the two already mixed for you) and it is written up as a black IPA.

Just curious if anyone has had anything from them, and if it's worth a stop on the way home to pick some up?

EDIT....With more reading, it says that all of their beers are prepared at 10 of the best breweries around the world. Very Interesting!!

EDIT, AGAIN....More really interesting reading here... http://www.nytimes.com/2014/03/30/magaz ... ewing.html I had a bomber of Tiger Baby IPA from Mikkeller a while ago, and I remember it being really good. Evil Twin Brewing seems to be well named from the story in the article.

I haven't tried anything from Evil Twin but I see their beers all the time at one of my regular stores. I always stop to take a look at them but never actually pull the trigger. In light of this new information I think I will have to stop by after work today and grab something from them, in the name of research, of course. I will update after consumption.

I was thinking that with all of the edits, we didn't need to respond. Chris was doing well talking to himself.

Never heard of them myself, but I certainly don't qualify as being on the cutting edge of beer news either.

The few times I've heard the Evil Twin name thrown out, I think of this from Jamil's brewery (Heretic):

I haven't tried Evil Twin. But I was drinking another contract brew last night: Trader Joe's 2013 Vintage Ale. Brewed by Unibroue, it was very good.

Now you guys are speaking my language! Evil Twin and Mikkeller are both great. The twins both gypsy brew (no home brewery, just get time/fermenter space at other breweries), and make world-class beers. They also can't stand each other. Read this for the story, and grab any beers you see of theirs. I've had several, and they never fail to impress... I've had It's Alive, American Style, Beer Geek Brunch Weasel (and others) from Mikkeller, and Bikini Beer, Low Life, Plastic Man, Justin Blåbær (and others) from Evil Twin. Planning to open Beer Geek Breakfast this weekend at a tasting.

Justin Blåbær is quite good...

EDIT: I see that Black Duck has already linked the article I referenced...

LIMIT THREE OF EACH PER MEMBER. Extremely Limited Supply. Requests processed in the order received.

Evil Twin Brewing - Imperial Biscotti Break - $17.99 for a 22oz bottle
Style: Imperial Porter, ABV: 11.5%

Evil Twin Brewing - Imperial Biscotti Break Natale Pretty Please with a Cherry on Top - $19.99 for a 22oz bottle
Style: Imperial Porter, ABV: 11.5%
This just came in to my email inbox, literally one minute ago.
Its an email list where they offer hard to find and sought after beers, a new one everyday, and at the end of the month they ship you whatever you ordered for a flat rate but still pricey shipping amount. Don't think I'll bite at nearly 20 bucks a bottle but I still plan on visiting the local shop for a more widely available aka cheaper offering.

I can honestly say I haven't had a bad beer yet from Evil Twin. Even More Jesus, I Love You With My Stout, Even Less Jesus, Lil B, and more are all phenomenal in my opinion
