Hi! I just got a Brew Demon cider making kit as an early Christmas present from the hubs! He has used Mr. Beer kits in the past. Just wanted to introduce myself. I hope to expand to making other things besides cider. Can I make beer in the clear cider fermenter or do I have to buy the amber one?
Thanks!

Re: Newb
Welcome! It is entirely possible to brew beer in clear vessels, just keep in mind that it is essential to protect it from light during the fermentation process. This is easily achieved with a simple cover (blanket, tee shirt, etc.) or keeping the fermenter in a closet or other dark area. There will be many (much more knowledgeable than I) along soon to discuss this further. Happy brewing!

Awesome...welcome. Glad your here. And a great early Christmas present I must say. lindseywinstead pretty much hit the nail on the head. You sure can make beer in it, just keep it covered or in the dark to keep the light out.

Welcome toThe Borg, it's no problem making beer in a clear fermenter, I do it all the time in my carboys. You can do it in a dark place or you can put a towel over it, either way you can make beer.

Welcome to the nicest forum on the web! Keep us posted on your brewing adventures. Do keep the fermenter out of direct light, especially sunlight. But it isn't a vampire, occasional electric light, or reflected light shouldn't hurt.
