Welcome to the Borg. Glad you found us. Being fairly new myself the only thing I can say is ask to find answers. The answers may not always be what you want to hear but everyone here wants to help you on your way to being the best brewer that you can be on what ever you brew.

Welcome, I'm new too. I don't want to hijack your thread, but I do have a question about the clear conical fermenter. I know you can make beer in clear fermenters, but is there a reason why Brewdemon made clear fermenters for their cider kits? Is it possible to make good cider in the tinted version?

It is definitely possible to make good cider in the brown version of the conical. Ciders are not affected by UV and will not spoil when struck by light, the way beer is (because hop compounds react with ultraviolet light and produce compounds that will make the beer taste awful). The clear conical will make it easier to see fermentation happening but if you brew a beer in it, make sure it stays in a dark and room so that UV cannot affect it.
