Saint Arnold Stout
Good judgment comes from experience, which comes from poor judgment.

Re: What are you drinking?
Had a first pour of my "Winter Steam" I tried this about a week early, (3 week ferment and 18 days in the bottle) because I couldn't wait any more. And I'm really happy. Initially I was a little worried by the first whiff out of the bottle, as I thought it smelled a little green, but I think it's just the Northern Brewer hops. I have not used them before and as I settle into the glass, I'm picking up some minty/earthy aromas, which are supposedly a trait in these hops. This is a variation on the California Common style in that it is a darker beer. I used some crystal, Vienna, and chocolate to add some depth and character. I am picking up on the caramel and chocolate, but it's nicely balanced with a creamy finish. I really like this and It's going to be great to have on hand this Winter. I will Probably post on the First Pour thread with some pics. Happy New Year all!

Re: What are you drinking?
I tapped into a keg of "Jim's Blackberry Wheat" I been saving for tonight.
"Filled with mingled cream and amber
I will drain that glass again.
Such hilarious visions clamber
Through the chambers of my brain
-- Quaintest thoughts -- Queerest fancies
Come to life and fade away;
Who cares how time advances?
I am drinking ale today."

Opened up my first Blackstone Black Belle... 10% impe3rial stout aged with cacao nibs in bourbon barrels. Wow. Outstanding. Age has done this one well. Maybe I'll bring the other one to the Nashville meet-up.
Happy new year, folks...

Re: What are you drinking?
I'm ringing in the new year with a Prairie Artisan Bomb. Its a 14% Imperial Stout brewed with cocoa nibs, espresso and chili peppers. I've never had anything quite like it. Its pretty friggin amazing!
Re: What are you drinking?
That Prairie is pretty amazing, isn't it? That whole Bomb series is great. The Christmas Bomb didn't do it for me so much (it was good, but I liked some of the other variations better), but what a great series of beers.

Death Sour ECY20 Plain, it's a nice tart sour, but could use some complexity. Have a new package of ECY20, time to brew up another sour, change up a few things, then wait a YEAR to see what I should change for the next time.

LOL! I was just picturing something like either Darth Vader or Grand Moff Tarkin (sp?) With a pucker face.
Or better yet, a picture of Bella with a 'sour' face!
If you only knew somebody that could take a great picture for you.....(by the way, I need a fix....please post a pic of her soon)

Not Bela, but how about the late, great Tobias (aka Kitty T).
